Does Life Insurance have PPI?

Sincere apologies if this question has already been answered. When my husband and I took out our mortgage we also took out Life Insurance/Critical Illness Cover (with Bright Grey). We sold our home in 2013 and I've since destroyed all the paperwork so can't verify anything. My husband swears blind that this Life Insurance Policy had PPI applied but I think he's getting confused as we tried to make a claim when he lost his job but we were told they wouldn't pay out.
Can anyone confirm if would PPI have been applied to a Life Insurance policy?

There are some plans that are multi-segment where you can have an MPPI or PPI as one of the segments. However, I don't believe the old Bright Grey plans had any PPI on them. Only Life cover, Critical illness cover or waiver of premium.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
