Haggled BT Retentions

Rang BT Retentions Dept (0800 800 030) and complained about terrible broadband service and old router (which is true).
Finally after a long wait and going through ALL the packages (Mobile phone, broadband, call packages etc) i still couldn't avoid the £2.50 price hike.
Came out with -
INCREASE OF MONTHLY BILL BY £2.50 for a new 18 month contract.
Got an increase on 2 mobile phone data packages (1GB & 500MB on the other)
New SMART HUB 6 ROUTER & Free Delivery.
Not great but if you wait till your line rental saver comes up for renewal it would have given a bit more to haggle with.
Saved money overall but cheesed at fact im paying twice when i only have line rental to get the internet and dont ring out (use mobiles as its free).

You only get the best deals if you actually give notice to leave and start the sign up with a rival. (My daughter did this at her flat over the summer ... the original BT deal was ending and the new offer was poor, so she started the sign up with TalkTalk. Very quickly BT contacted her and offered a deal very similar to the TT offer at the time if she'd stay for another year).0

Use a service without a line if you don't want to rent a line for your broadband to come down .Mobile data or satellite are two alternatives .0

Have been having problems with BT lately (awful customer services), so was gonna leave when the contract was up anyway, but that's not to next September. Rang up after I found out about the price increases, and got offered to keep the same deal as I was on now if I was to renew my contract. That's Line rental, anytime calls, unlimited fibre (upgraded to the 76mb speed) all for £36.45 a month. Declined as I wasn't for entering a new contract, so give my notice that I was leaving due to price increases.0

I'm just off the phone to retentions there and was told that I could recontract to keep my current price (29.99/m) to avoid the price hike, but I've had several issues prior to this when first joining BT (engineers missing visits, no BB service for over a month etc) so I asked if he could lower my package price at all. I was then told that he could only offer me a price of £39.99! Obviously I declined and opted to take his previous offer, to which I was then told it's not actually available to me and he had only 'pre-mentioned' it as he knew it worked for most people's accounts!
If I could leave BT and go to Sky I would, but only BT cover my area! 0 -
Have you checked with sky? I know that's who I have moved to. Just sick of the awful service, and constant lies. So much for thinking that the customer service would get better when it came back to the uk, if anything I think its worse0
