PPI claimed rejected by onbudsman

Hi,
My wife had a PPI claim rejected by the ombudsmen. The reason given was that as she was a housewife and that the only income was her husbands, PPI was needed, even though they hadn't informed them of other available options and that after having PPI for a number of years they stated that they didn't want any PPI on their new mortgage, the mortgage company went ahead and put it in place regardless.
Surely this is an injustice?

The first thing to remember is that most MPPI complaints do fail. It is one of two types of PPI that is still retailed and available today. it does not suffer a number of the issues that loan or credit card PPI has.
The reason given was that as she was a housewife and that the only income was her husbands, PPI was needed,

That sounds like good justification for having it.
even though they hadn't informed them of other available options

Was it a tied distribution channel or an independent distribution channel? Not that it matters. Tied only have to make you aware of products in their own range. Independent filter through the available options to make the recommendation. In no cases would you expect or be required to be given options.
and that after having PPI for a number of years they stated that they didn't want any PPI on their new mortgage, the mortgage company went ahead and put it in place regardless.

You may need to explain that one more. If it was put in place in error, then raising the issue in the first month or two would make it a very credible complaint and very easily put right. If that complaint was made years after it was put in place, that credibility is lost and documentary evidence would be relied on more.
    Surely this is an injustice?

    not seeing an injustice here.
