Garage error

I took my car in for a service a couple of weeks back thought nothing of it drove around for a couple of weeks (i use the car a lot for work im a taxi driver)until the car started losing power I lifted the bonnet and noticed that the dip stick had popped out and was spitting oil over the engine . I waited for the car to cool down and check the oil level I seen that the the oil level was well over the limit I took the car back to the garage and said they had put an extra 1100ml of oil. They drained the oil and put a new oil filter and oil in the car, two days later the same happened again loss of power engine light comes back on and the car loses power again .

Apart from taking the car back to the garage is there anything else I can do?

I have lost earnings as had to cancel 3 shifts at work. Cheers Kenny

It sounds like your car has had a couple of failed DPF regeneration cycles - this can dump unburnt diesel fuel into the oil

This. When was the last time the car did a journey of at least 30 minutes maintaining 50MPH or more? I'm betting many many miles ago.

Local taxi firms around here have switched to petrol engines for the cars that aren't doing airport runs or school contracts due to the amount of issues they had with the diesels from doing nothing but round town work.

  • Not sure there maybe a problem with the muf it came up on the diagnostic machine not really too sure what that means.

Taramber. We tend to do a lot out of town work maybe 3 4 times a week I first noticed the problem on Saturday when I was driving back on the motorway about to hit Telegraph Hill (devon) is when I first noticed the power cut out. I don't suppose you have any information of where I stand with the garage? . As I still don't have my car back .

    Thank you

Taking the car back would be the first thing to do.
