Balance transfer and Holiday

Hi

Just wonderring what is the best way to go here. I currently have a debt (of about 4k) on a M&S &More and my interest free period ends 29 January 2008 and I want to balance transfer it.

However I am going on holiday (to Peru) for all of December and don't return until 4 January.

Should I start the balance transfer before I go on holiday or would I be ok to wait until I get back?

I've never Balance transferred before so not sure how long it takes/ what is involved. Can I leave the credit card company to do it whilst I am out of the country?
I have worked for 5 years as a Pension Administrator and then a further year in a non-administrator pension role. I am not (and never have been) an adviser. Do not take anything I say as advice, it is information given on the best of my knowledge.

The time taken to process a credit card application and balance transfer request varies between card companies.

The best introductory 0% deals are often heavily advertised and lenders are sometimes flooded with applications.

Best practice is to allow 5-6 weeks but, with luck, your application and balance transfer will be completed in 3-4 weeks. I would be inclined to wait until 4 January, when you can monitor the process yourself.

Which credit cards do you hold at the mo, besides M&S &More?

  • Just an Egg Money card which I use day to day.

    Thanks

  • I wonder if stoozing some funds using my Egg Money and then I would have the cash might work better...
