Worcester Bosch 24cdi replacement?

My old boiler might be the way out (tempted to add a pun here but didn't!)

Can I please ask a very general question to those in the know before I seek quotes.

Current boiler is 20 years old Worcester Bosch 24cdi Combi
The question is - in the world of Heating Engineering, is it a relatively simple job to replace an old boiler with a modern one - assuming the odd pipe may have to be changed to fit correctly to the new boiler, is a like-for-like replacement a reasonable assumption on my part.

Thanks

Is this posted in the wrong thread or is that a suggestion on the likely cost?

I'm just researching the practicalities at the moment so I can gain some knowledge before speaking to heating engineers, my quote quest will follow.

I guess it's quite straight forward to replace a boiler without changing the pipework. You are probably looking at £700 +/- 10% for labour and the cost of the new boiler.

    More information at https://www.which.co.uk/reviews/boilers/article/new-boiler-what-you-need-to-know-before-you-buy-a-new-boiler/the-cost-of-installing-a-boiler

    All the best.

Silly Worms gave us some examples, but people might find it useful if he stated the cost too.

Unless Silly Worms experiences were as near as heck exactly the same as the OP's, providing prices would be pretty pointless. Besides which the OP did not ask for prices but for how easy it is to replace an existing boiler.
The only way for people to know for certain how much it would cost would be to get quotes themselves since what one person has paid may bear little relevance to how much another installation could cost; there are too many variables and as such providing even a ball-park figure could well be a long way out for someone else.
  • Ant, you will also need to think about whether the position of your current flue is suitable for the new boiler. If your boiler is on, or close to, an outside wall there should be no problem to fit the new inlet/outlet flue pipe through the wall, although there are restrictions on how close the flue can be to the windows, etc.. Our old boiler and its flue were towards the middle of the house and if the new boiler had been put in the same place, we would have had to have inspection hatches put at regular intervals into the kitchen ceiling. This, and problems with siting the condensate drain pipe, persuaded us to re-site the boiler in the garage.

Another example of cost is always good.

Dorsetlad makes good point about flue, it can also not go over a neighbouring property, you need to think about a waste outlet for the condensate and gas pipe work being the correct size. Other then that it will be a straight forward job.

A good replacement would be a Worcester 25 or 30 si. It should be a relatively easy swap. Only issue are the ones that have already been mentioned Gas supply pipe will need to be 22mm, a path will be needed to dispose of condensate there are various options for this and there may be issues with flue position depending on where your current boiler is. You would be looking at minimum about £900 for boiler then labour cost on top
