Which Deposit Protection service to use? (i'm the tenant)

    i use the Deposit Protection Service based in Bristol - they have been administering the Australian deposit scheme for 8 years.

    Whatever "disclaimer" your landlord gets you to sign will have no legal validity - - you cannot take away someone's legal rights by getting them to sign something that negates that right.

    f the deposit is not lodged, he cannot evict you - and he risks fines of up to £20k. if he does not lodge your deposit he will also have to pay you 3 times your deposit.

    its up to him to sort this stuff out.

    i'd hold fire, not sign anything, and wait to cash in - landlords like this should not be in this business.

    i would also go to your local housing office at the council and get them to write to him.

    but, he may then not wish to extend your tenancy after the initial period.
