You may find the landlord thinks they've already been more than fair. I know its not ideal but if you live alone you might consider earplugs to make life a bit more bearable and thank your lucky stars your flat isn't below their bedroom!
It's fair to give some money but on the other hand he did not have any choices. Who wants to move to an unfurnished property for 6 months? No one.

6 months isn't too long, and there is always the option of paying up the tenancy...so get to 4 or 5 months and pay the rest up if it's that bad.

Don't waste any energy on asking for better sound proofing as a) they won't care b ) it would cost the landlord !!!! loads and he wouldn't care c) it rarely works anyway.

Get some headphones for watching TV etc. Get some earplugs for sleeping.

fair enough, but please be aware that if you offer a "directional steer" then do so only where you know that what you say is in accordance with landlord and tenancy law, otherwise people will correct your post and that will simply become tedious for all

I guess maybe i should shut up then! If the place was for exclusively for experts from all sides of the LL/EA/Tentant debate they'd be no one posting
