I hope your DH's work recovers soon. It sounds like China are getting back to work so hopefully it will be a short term impact - depending then on how Britain is affected by the virus. Squirrelling and nesting is perfectly logical at a time like this.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Haha to the loo roll buying!
Thanks all, feeling a bit more positive this weekend, the orders are still trickling in slowly and orders placed/completed now are paid in early May so we will be ok til June financially in that business. Perhaps by then things may be returning to normal? I hope so anyway.
Had another quiet weekend, saving the pennies whilst living well at home. Made a lovely sweet potato, chickpea and cauli curry yesterday and really enjoyed that last night instead of a takeaway. No other spends.
We have been spending the time doing some DIYing, knocking the arched stone lounge fireplace out and sitting an oak beam in as a mantel. The hideous dressed stone chimney will be boarded and plastered over and it will look much less 70s!
Also been helping lots with the lambing at the farm, Mum has broken a rib so I'm doing as much as I can to help out and let her rest. Its good for the soul too, the worries seem miles away when you're in the countryside surrounded by sheep!
Hope everyone else is staying safe and well. Take care. xNew Mortgage: £240 999 7/2/20 £ 205 000 Aug 23 Currently: £193 313 Jan 2025

Out on the farm other than being cold - sounds like therapy at a time like this. Hope you mum recovers quickly. It sounds like you are really getting stuck into your new place - go for it!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

What a difference a week makes. So much has happened in the world and life as we know it has changed almost beyond recognition for the time being. This week has seen one of our businesses almost completely close down whilst the other booms. This means that things are up and down financially and ironically the business that is doing the best is going to be the one eligible for the grants and most help. In reality this money will likely be used to prop up the other company that is really going to struggle over the next few months. The shop is crazy busy and I have been manically racing to the wholesalers every day in an effort to keep the place stocked. We have also volunteered to run a free same day delivery service to our local customers who are staying at home, this is picking up and we were quite busy on Friday. I am against stopping our mortgage payments if at all possible (which I hope it will be).
Elsewhere, the forced isolation has been good for saving up in some respects. We supported a local restaurant by ordering take-away on Friday and I am ordering again tonight and delivering to my parents as a mother's day treat, besides that, no money has been spent. We have been decorating the snug, plotting more work on the house and have happily spent lots of time outside in the garden as it has been such a lovely weekend weather wise. I must admit that staying at home is no hardship at all as I am loving this house so much. I start smiling as soon as I step onto the drive and am happy not to go out all weekend as it is. Long may this continue.
I have made some bread today as our little village shop is losing in the battle of bread deliveries against the big supermarkets, I made 8 rolls and a loaf which should last a couple of days, I've lots of bread flour and yeast in so will continue to bake every other day, home made is so much better anyway.
Hope everyone is safe and well.x
