Thanks SH, we had a really positive viewing on Thursday and it looks like we are back on track. Everyone is aiming for the 7th of Feb so we have everything crossed. The buyers were really lovely and it was so nice to chat through their worries face to face rather than via solicitors or estate agents. They seemed happy enough about everything which is the main thing. Thanks to all of my friends on here for your thoughts and best wishes.xxxNew Mortgage: £240 999 7/2/20 £ 205 000 Aug 23 Currently: £193 313 Jan 2025

Thanks to all of you for your support, it's been a long slog but we exchanged contracts yesterday! :j:j
Friday was awful, we had some bad news about DH's main customer and a potential big reduction in orders for him which was a huge worry and the solicitors messed about for so long that day that exchange didn't happen.
We were really fed up over the weekend but picked ourselves up and did a lot of packing then all went smoothly yesterday. Hopefully the news regarding DH's customer is less bad than first assumed but it has made us a bit cautious regarding spending on new bits for the house, just in case.
Meanwhile, our house seems to be falling down in protest at us leaving :rotfl: and has required the electrician, plumber and I left the builders there this morning!
The bathroom sink plug mechanism broke on Thursday and we lost a ridge tile in the wind on Sunday night. The fireplace needed a tweak as it wasn't quite right and DH didn't want to leave it less than perfect for the new owners but a design fault meant half the fireplace had to come out in order to access the flue and now needs re-plastering in places  - hence the builders there this morning.Hopefully all will be sorted by Friday (moving day) but it is adding to the stress somewhat!
Today I have rung the bank and transferred over the completion balance of £53k. I am expecting a partial refund as they have used an out of date mortgage balance in their calculations (and most likely don't account for aggressive overpaying), they are roughly £3k out so hopefully that will be returned to us soon.
Elsewhere, the boiler in our rental has bitten the dust (after numerous expensive attempts to repair it) so a new one will be installed tomorrow. It never rains but it pours. However, we have got the DREAM HOUSE :j the rest will sort itself out.New Mortgage: £240 999 7/2/20 £ 205 000 Aug 23 Currently: £193 313 Jan 2025
