Samsung Galaxy phone - screen black

Hullo

Apologies if this is an easty question that I missed. Have a Samsung Galaxy S7 (oh dear... it may be S6... I've forgotten!) and it's got a dead screen. Still seems to work, if I plug it into my pc I could change the name of the phone - and it still beeps, and has a light on... but the screen is dead.

Presuming it's a lost cause, but wondering if there's any tricks. Could it be fixed by taking it to a Samsung (or other... but presume not) location? Is it a simple (even if it involves some techie shake) thing, or will it require a new "internal screen" or something for a billion pounds (i.e. so a lost cause).

Was considering selling it, but since it still seems to have details on it, would want to wipe it before selling, otherwise it'll live on a shelf.:rotfl:

  • i had the same thing with my previous phone a samsung S5. screen black could still receive calls but because of screen obviously could not make calls or do anything else.
i took mine into a samsung repair centre (actual samsung - not a generic repair shop). as it was within 2 years old at the time, they replaced the screen there and then free of charge. not sure of the cost if it was outside of this 2 year warranty.

they can tell its age by its serial number i believe. it could also just be a loose connection within the phone. either way seek out an official samsung repair centre.
is it under 2 years old btw?
  • If its a S7 you have a 2 year warranty for repair or exchange.

Make use of it by calling samsung.
