Called Lloyds yesterday as have not been receiving alerts, they've said they've been having problems and so have turned it off, no sight of when it will be switched on and they are not notifying customers of the fact its switched off either-so beware-if you've missed payment etc complain!

I think the weekly ones with a mini statement and balance has gone for good but they will still text you if you are going overdrawn(to give you time to pay in) or within £50 of your OD limit.0

VERY VERY disappointed that with the addition of compulsory overdraft alerts, Lloyds have removed the text notifications we could configure for ourselves, mini statement and balance each week, and going over threshold so we knew that inbound payments had gone in.
Lloyds told us the new alerts were coming, but not that we would lose this facility !
Don't plan to go over an overdraft limit , so text alerts now useless !!
Definitely a retrograde step !!

Another example of Hutbers law' in action:
Roughly being:
Any much heralded and trumpeted "improvement" in service/facilities for customers by an organisation masks a actual deterioration in the service.0 -
Exactly! This affects all three banks in the group - Bank of Scotland, Halifax, and Lloyds
- "There`ll be new alerts from 2 Nov that replace the alerts you opted in to" - so no more high/low balance and mini statement alerts. This provided a convenient way of monitoring these high interest current accounts (11 between us) without having to go online and log in, and they gave an extra level of security. Lets hope Santander, TSB, Tesco etc don`t "follow suit".0 -
On a slightly different tangent, I would expect banks to abandon text messaging in the coming years, replacing it with push notifications through their apps. It would be a much cheaper and more secure method for them to deliver the same service and may present opportunities to enhance the service, for example to notify you whenever there is activity on the account.where_are_we wrote: »" This provided a convenient way of monitoring these high interest current accounts (11 between us) without having to go online and log in, and they gave an extra level of security. To be honest, I'm surprised more banks haven't started to go down this route already.Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place0 -
Looking at the small print it looks like if you do not have a planned overdraft then you will not be sent a text at all which means that the people who need it most eg going od today (but no od in place)need to pay in to cover etc will not get any.0

thanks for the warning I rely on these texts to tell me if I have spent under my limit I set up the reminder for.
Now I know I wont get them I can put other measures in place but without warning I could have gone overdrawn.0 -

I have no planned overdraft, and have never asked for alerts, but received one on 2-11-17 to tell me I'd only 66p in an account. I already knew that, it's always 66p except for the few minutes when the monthly money-go-round goes through.Eco Miser

Just logged on to their new site (what a mess)
