Car Insurance Quotes shot up overnight

I got quotes from gocompare, confused and moneysupermarket for a new car
Went online this morning to check and they'd all gone up by £50, almost20% in 2days
Are they likely to go back down in a week?
Or will I need to change the quote (job description/annual mileage etc) to make it worklike a new quote?

The price quoted can often be affected by the start date of the policy, I wonder if yesterday you did for a future date and today you re-quoted for today's date?0

Some companies honour quotes for a period.
Don't attempt to manipulate the information you give to get cheaper quotes under your real Id.
The companies use software that spots any changes designed to manipulate and see it as fraudulent.
Always use a dummy I'd when playing with quotes0 -
Paddy Yes I did.
Maybe it would drop the price if I get a quote for next month, then see if they'll honour it0 -

That'll only work if the start date is correct to begin with. If you put in a start date for next month and then call and ask for that price but for cover to start tomorrow; they'll most likely decline, as you're trying to get around the rating factor.
It's comparable to putting yourself down as a 50 year old and asking them to honour the price when you're only 18.0 -
I didnt know the start date as I wasnt sure if or when I would get the car
as it turned out, I still dont have the car0 -
I was recently trying to get quotes for my son’s car insurance and , as I was unsure of his NCB, I keyed in 2 or 3 options and likewise I saw my insurance quote rise from £470 - £520 - £605 to no quote offered.
I queried it directly with the cheapest provider , Hastings Direct, and was told I wasn’t getting offered a quote due to ‘ quote manipulation ‘.
In an environment where you are encouraged to compare prices and seek the best deals, how can it be right for insurance companies to work in this manner - it seems this is a deliberate attempt by insurance companies to prevent legal comparison and therefore restrict true competition.
Pretty unscrupulous.0 -
It's down to you supplying different details yet each time incorrectly agreeing you have told the truth.
It is too easy for them to spot you cannot be telling the truth if there are multiple applications with changes to material facts.
See #3 above on how to avoid getting black listed0 -
I checked yesterday and the quote had gone back down0

I work in insurance, our brokerage is not the cheapest compared to online quotes, but the cover is streets ahead...colleagues have often commented that an online quote well before renewal date is a lot cheaper than a quote within a week of renewal date.
It seems that they charge you for desperation to get a last minute quote.0
