ParkingEye data protection breach?

Opinions please.
I have received a ticket from the company above while not the driver.

Anyway, I have noticed in the reference number for the parking ticket issued the the numbers to the right of the slash look very similar to my date of birth. If this is the case, can I pursue them to see what information they have received about me from DVLA? Date of birth is not relevant to processing any parking invoice, and therefore they are not entitled to hold this information under the Data Protection Act and DVLA should not be giving this information out.

As I said, is this reasonable - to fight back on another front?

Cheers

Steve

Everyone is politely asked to read up on this in the Newbies faq thread near the top of the forum before starting a new thread.

Go there now to learn about the game you are now caught up in

Throughout here you are advised never to reveal who was driving. You need to edit your post to remove details of the driver

Your suggestion won't get this cancelled

No it is not intended to be your date of birth which you say is 'similar'

Parking Eye's always reference numbers consist of 12 digits in the format 123456/654321 and they generate many thousands in a month.

I would expect it to be random, but with 5 out of 6 numbers, in the correct order, being my date of birth..

I would expect DVLA to just supply the info that says, registered keeper is - NAME. Last address is -DETAIL. Nothing more. DVLA shouldn't even supply any info relating to my driving licence.

And they don't, it is a coincidence, like turning out your tea leaves and seeing the image of your long lost pet.

Not sure about that coincidence. The odds of it happening are way out there...

If you have my date of birth in format 0d0myy, they have the number being 0dmy9y where they have dropped the 0 from the month and inserted a 9 in the year. I haven't given away any personal info in that, but probably confused a few people. The only thing you will get is that my day of birth is in the first nine days of a month and my month of birth is from Jan to Sept - hence the leading zeroes.

I've used the template from the sticky post through ParkingEye appeal on-line form. I went and got some photos of their car park last week (without my car going in it again!!), so have attached evidence of the poor signage.

I may still ask to see the information they hold on me. Their terms and conditions say it costs £10. That may be the only money they get out of me.

    It is a coincidence
DVLA do not supply DoB. They cannot supply licence info as that has nothing to do with VRM data, of course.

It is a coincidence. ParkingEye do NOT have your DOB or anything about you except a name & address.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
