Credit and Balance transfers

Hi all,

I've recently been sent an offer by my bank for a 27 months balance transfer deal with a low fee (but not market winning), but this prompted me to shop around a bit and explore other deals on offer.

My problems are thus:

1) I've recently applied for a mortgage. This has been accepted and an offer extended. We exchange this week, but don't complete until April/May next year (new build).

2) My current Sainsbury's card still has a bit of time on it's 0% deal, so there is no immediate pressure to switch, however at my current payment levels I won't pay it off before the 0% ends.

I'm uncertain as to what deals might be on offer when the Sainsbury's card ends but I'm mindful of opening a new account with my bank or a competitor whilst going through the mortgage process.

Should I just sit tight and see what's on offer after April/May, or do I lock in with a nice 38 month or so deal now, set it up to pay enough to repay in full by the term and forget?
