well whilst having fun this afternoon ive come up with a few genius ideas. im going to keep schtum for now but i do have a question. might be silly but do u think there may be some legal implications for reusing supermarket bags to make things? they arent really recognisable but occasionally u may come across a slogan or brand name. i dont want to get into trouble. theyre only going to go and clog up a landfill anyway so i cant see anyone having too big an issue with it. any thoughts? What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0

I can't see any problems with that picklepick. If anything it's good advertising for them.
I believe that they are your bags to do with as you like.
Obviously if you are planning on making them into an "I hate Tesco" banner you might hit problems...0 -

Agreeing with Jimmythewig. I doubt very much they would pursue anyone through a court because they were carrying around a bag with their name on it unless it was libelous or you were producing so many that you were actually making a substantial financial gain from using their logo.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Hi,
I make handmade cards and wedding invitations and am having a website made by a friend for (£80) and am thinking of advertising in a bridal magazine for £70.
My parents think this is a waste of money because of the competition etc but i have had lots of people comment on my cards etc
Am i wasting my time?

The chances of anyone stumbling across your website, I would think, are pretty small.
£70 for an advert in a bridal magazine sounds like good value. Hopefully that will generate a bit of interest.
You can then judge whether it is worth putting another ad in, or drumming up trade elsewhere.
I presume that you can cope financially if you pay out this £150 and don't get any orders from it. If so, why not go for it if that's what you want to do.0 -
Katie: Handmade cards are wonderful, but they are more expensive (obviously) - I was in a well-known card shop a few weeks back and they had "10 cards for £1", I'm not known for buying cards, but it is hard to compete with that. As for wedding invitations, my Uncle's getting married in a few months and they're making they're own cards because of the cost - With the word "recession" in the air I think a lot of "hand-made" people might be struggling
Not that I want to be negative, I really do hope it works for you, but would this be your only source of income?0 -
Hi Folks
I'm new to this forum but think it's great! Been reading loads of your entries and think this is definitely the place for me.
I've been thinking about making things to sell but was wondering about copyright. If I see something that I think I could make, but don't use a pattern, am I still infringing copyright if I simply copy the idea?
Hope someone can help.
