Sound bar on 40” Samsung TV?

The sound quality from a recently purchased 6400 series Samsung sounds quite thin and at times indistinctive.

The TV sits on a 28” wide corner unit, the type with 3 glass shelves.

Any thoughts on using a sound bar with this type of setup? They appear to resemble “fence posts”, although some are much narrower. It would be hard to position in front of the TV on the top of the stand, although it might sit on a lower shelf if the DVD and recording box were stacked one on top of the other...

Thanks

I found soundbars so overpriced & underwhelming that I bought a mini hifi system instead.

I don;t know what your budget is but we recently bought a 'soundbase' for a relative that is hard of hearing and the amplified sound is incredible from single unit. The bass is also impressive.

I dont think they are any where near as cheap as a soundbar.

I have an Orbitsound soundbar, that gets good reviews, as like you I found my Samsung TV sound had no depth.

I have found the Orbitsound to be way too bassy - even with treble turned right up and bass turned down, if I go upstairs, I can feel the bass.

My brother has a similar model and feels the same about his.

Not that is compact, I wanted a neat solution that works in sync with the TV, hence considering a small sound bar. Cost isn’t really an issue, it was more the practicality of where to position one.
