  • Just realised, not mentioned that OH came back from a do on Sunday with a few raffle prizes, including a voucher for a 3kg piece of gammon, fortunately we can pick it up after Christmas, my freezer is a bit full at the moment

I know it is not quite a trip to the ballet and a meal out, but still pleased (well hell of that prize HG :D )

Oh rose....that’s incredible. What were the odds of finding that?:T:T:T

    Does it still fit?

Yes it does and I have not taken it off since. I was really upset when it went missing. Thanks

    Good morning all

JTS you will be in my thoughts

Its very cold here DH is on the delivery card run later today DS has phoned to order stuff from our "stash" via DH as he is also babysitting today

It looks like my plans to retire have changed to going sick long term I do have a genuine illness and financially it will be better for me plus more difficult for the company as far as I can see

Still pondering when but it will not be 15th as I fear for the staffs' Christmas wages Boss who has resigned has aged 10 years in a week

    Enjoy your day

I think this is the way my OH will retire, start by taking some long term sick leave and do it gradually - old soldiers ...just fade away.

While we were away his company was accumulated by another with a new name so lots of changes when he went back to work this week. This current franchise has 3 years to run I think so he is going to see how things pan out.

Finally he is on a good salary so this is another factor - how do you wave goodbye to the salary you have worked for all your life and hello to living on pensions which could be as little as half.
I've been aiming to save 50% each month - not feasible most months obviously - the bank of mum and dad had to come to the rescue several times this year so this has put us well behind schedule. In theory though we could live on half pay but who wants to go back to the bad old days or scrimping and scraping and money being all accounted for on the 2nd day of the month ..

I suppose there is never a good time to retire.

Totally amazing - also that it still fits has some meaning ...

I don't wear rings, my wedding ring was flung at OH in rage and fury so often in the early days it went missing - I suspect its fallen down the back of the old sofa in the study and possibly it will emerge the day the old sofa is upended and opened up before heading to the tip ...

Wow well done, very classy HG, hope you enjoy it I've only seen one ballet. Around 1970. My friend and I wanted to see Swan Lake at Newcastle Theatre Royal but fully booked, so we saw Giselle instead. Enjoyed it

I have never taken my wedding ring off, since getting married in May 1981. The couple of ops I've had, they taped it up. Couldn't get it off now anyway without cutting it off, due to my arthritic knuckles
