Good morning, re screen wash I believe the winter one has an anti freeze so lower freezing point , I use the winter one in the freezing months for this reason, we had to defrost the car yesterday:eek:,
Oh no:eek:
I'm like King Canute at the moment trying to ignore the forces of nature. I'm stretching out the evenings with outdoor stuff and making the most of early mornings. I'm pushing winter and Christmas firmly into December whether they like it or not:rotfl:To do is to be. Rousseau

Good morning shipmates on this cold and sunny morning :wave:You must share your recipe JTS, as that is one of my must haves when we go to France
Sorry for delay in replying pippo :A just having time now for a quick skim back - Harriet is high maintenance
I always think the difference between a good dish and a very good dish is the use of FRESH herbs. So I used plenty of fresh bay leaves, fresh rosemary and fresh thyme.
Cut the Pork into billiard ball sized pieces and placed in slow cooker with aforementioned fresh herbs, plenty of freshly crushed garlic, salt and ground black pepper, and a pinch - just a pinch as I find it can become overpowering - of Chinese 5 spice.
I then added last Sunday's roast meat juices - just enough to nearly cover the pork. Stock would do instead.
Then I left it to slow cook for about 8 hours until I could see it starting to fall apart.
Strained the juices into a bowl and pulled apart the Pork into small strands.
Pressed the meat into ramekin dishes and pour a bit of the strained juice over.
Those that prefer a "fatty" rillettes add melted fat.
Then it's been left to cool in fridge.
Looking forward to trying this batch tonight with sourdough breadFighting Recurring Cancer0 -
Good morning all, lovely sunny day here, two loads of washing out and drying
mhoc, the only thing I tend to use soured cream for is twice baked cheesecake, somehow I don't think that is any good to you. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Good morning everyone. Happy Sunday. I am still in bed which is very unusual for me. I did not wake up until nearly 9am which is unheard of for me. I have not been well this week and have a heavy cold, but the good news is I have lost nearly 5lb - I am sure I will put it back on when I start eating again, but i am going to try and stick to sensible eating to see if I can loose another half a stone by Xmas which will be good.
I had sell for £1 on Ebay so have sat and listed quite a bit with still more to do. I am going to try use some of my new free time clearing some clutter.
It is good when visiting Asda not to have to walk around and womble - although it will effect my steps as that was most of my exercise. Also i do not feel the need to call in on my way home, so have got in from work earlier as well, although still have quite a few wombles to spend over next few weeks which luckily I have had no problems with so far.

Suggestions please as to other uses for sour cream?
OH came home on Thursday with the makings for fjahitas but with no sour cream. But on investigating the fridge I still have a bit left at the end of the last pot, few days out if date but it smelt and tasted fine and I survived the night.
So tonight we had fjahitas again - as the makings do 2 meals - bag of beansrouts, stir fry, 8 wraps - but I had a new tub of sour cream which Ive got 2/3 left now ...
In the interests of economy today OH did breakfast sausage butties using 2 Linda Mc sausages and 2 saved lincolnshire sausages from the freezer plus a pack of part bakes baguettes from Aldi so about £1.60 in real money.
Also made cheese scones this afternoon
Fjahitas for dinner with Marks chicken from the freezer.
This evenings TV snack was home made chips baked in the oven sprayed with the fry light - so about 15p for a baked potato.
I am not doing Frocktober as such but its very inspirational, all the cooking and cordon bleu meals being concocted.
Its def more satisfying being in the kitchen rather than in supermarkets spending money
I would bake a batch of scones and use it in them.0 -

Good morning, re screen wash I believe the winter one has an anti freeze so lower freezing point , I use the winter one in the freezing months for this reason, we had to defrost the car yesterday:eek:,
I am close to putting the heating on at home and it is not yet November:eek:. Has anyone already had to do so? Don't we usually start putting it on at the end of September? I am trying to cut the cost and haven't succumbed yet. But it is becoming cold - after the summer we had we could have a very cold winter:eek:. I hope not. It also went straight from winter (which lasted into what should have been spring) to summer - I want to see some autumn yet and not one that is freezing cold, is effectively an extended winter and then runs until next June.0 -

I had no problems yesterday, but I did use the SS only once and early in my shopping trip (which will mean late morning by the time I finally get there). I had one several weeks ago that failed and that made me think back then "Has the system been changed to reject them now?" That proved not to be the case so maybe it was a faulty machine; however I don't know.0 -
