Morning all! It's raining here and it's forecast to rain most of the day :-(. My husband is downstairs about to pour a large amount of levelling compound over the living room floor as it's very wonky and we're getting a new carpet put in next week. I'm waiting for the call for help when something goes terribly wrong.

I've made myself a small list of things to get from Asda today, including the McVities thins and Aussie :-). I did look at the Lidl list but there wasn't anything on there that we need. We've got tons of wine and we really don't drink that much of it so I'm going to not buy any this week!

Yesterday we picked up the 6 beers from Majestic each :-). I phoned up before we went to check they had them in stock and they said that they didn't, but they had subs instead. When they put these through the till they were almost £10 per 6 pack :-O. Whilst they were processing this my husband and I were helping ourselves to the raspberry gin 'taster' bottle they had next to the till :D.

I'd also picked up a 9pk of Tesco cheapie beer bottles (one was missing) reduced from £3.60 to £2 so it was a slooooooooooooooooooow cycle home last night!

What is the story on the Aussie thanks?
    I think....
  • The travel sizes are 3 for 2 in Asda and compare well against Sainsbury's. Combined with the £1.50 voucher from SSM they should be 35p for 3. I can't remember who posted it originally.

  • As for the waterproof trousers, I have tried using them on my bike, but I end up wetter than without them because I sweat so much in them :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Sweat? That is not something I tend to do.....

I am still looking for an energy supplier to switch to - prices have gone silly. Do I gamble and go for the cheapest on MSE (variable) or pay £6 a month more to fix to protect against future rises  I need to decide quickly as the MSE big switch deals are limited and running out.

I need to switch to, cheapest seems to be ENSTROGA at £117 less. Under the MSE Customer Service Rating it says: "Not enough feedback yet" I'm not sure whether to risk it or go for the next best option at £84 saving...
Something unexpected happened which made me smile and still continues to make me smile.

Hopefully when we get the new boiler installed we will see some savings there too (though recouping the cost of the boiler increases that challenge somewhat ).

I saw at least a 30% reduction in gas useage when I got my new condenser about 5 years ago.

I use fixed to be able to budget better for the year, but also a factor is the charge for leaving early, so check that too.
AND also the cashback needs factoring too, but not relied upon. I have to say I use the MSE Energy Club, but I don't trust them totally nowadays, shop around using other sites is a must.
so. Cheap, check early exit fees, Cashback.
  • By the way, does anyone know how many days 'use by' you get on the Tesco pork legs? We don't have any freezer space at all so I'm wondering how long it would keep in the fridge.

Mine had 30/09 on them and that was on the 20th.

With our solar panels we use much more of both gas and leccy winter than summer so it can be cheaper for us to get high standing charge cheap units in winter and the opposite in summer even after paying early exit fees.

You lead a bloody complex life, Michaels! :)
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Can anyone recommend a freezer for in the shed please. Just the width of a washing machine or there about a please. Tia xx

From recommendations on this thread, I went with Beko. Cheapest price was from Currys and went through quidco for 1% cashback (though still not tracked). Also Currys have a cheap old freezer removal if you need that. I didn't pay for installation/ unpacking as their website says they don't install in a garage or shed, but the delivery guys were helpful.
