    I think we just missed having to pay for our kids's mobile contracts. They are now 28 and 31, probably a close call :eek::eek:

    Don't know how you got away with it!

    I remember checking our bank statement one month and son's mobile bill was £68!
    Should have been £10.50.
    I went mad. :mad::rotfl:
    He then did it again a couple of months later.
    Made him pay that one then put a cap on his contract. Blooming girlfriends.

    Always a data issue with mine.

    A lot of my DDs' friends had contract phones, I'm afraid I was the mean mum who made them stay on PAYG until they were old enough to sign up for a contract themselves.

    They used to have new phone for xmas/birthdays etc and then have to top it up themselves with pocket money etc. Very rarely I used to top up for them if they were going away or might have needed to contact me.

    I've been trying to do this for ages, to be fair to them they have been in agreement that it is about time (they are 24 and 28), but EE require that we are all in the same place at the same time, which is rare. I have been refusing upgrades for them, so their phones are nearly 4 years old.

    If you wanted to achieve this while not in the same place, and contracts are in your name, just arrange PAC codes to port the number (could be to a PAYG sim, rather than a new contract immediately) which will close the account when used, they can then either transfer the number to their new contract or out to PAYG and back if that is their preference. Obviously depends on whether it is a great deal - most can be beaten by shopping around/cashback etc.

    Ours are on a fiver a month - not the best tariffs but they have a £1 'smart cap' which I can't find anywhere less (had the option of £4 per month for unlimited mins and texts and 5gb of data but rejected as £40 cap). Also having the data mins and texts limited seems to be a positive thing tbh :)

    I am sitting here buttocks clenched waiting to hear re the toilet roll glitch....
    I think....
