    Yes I can see it and no don't press it as if enough people do it may expire the thread. Or this thread is in an expired section of the forum (where normally the deals are then expired and people ignore them), which may explain it too.

    I have never tried just planting a slice, but in theaory, so long as there is a seed in there, it should work. You might not get what you expect though if it is a hybrid tomato. For the sake of getting a pack of tom seeds, it could be money well spent.
    Edit: Just read that the gel sacks around the seeds could inhibit germination. You may possibly have better success if you remove the sacks by washing the seeds first.

    Thanks Dave. I'll buy some seeds! I've just found some old packs of seeds (not including tomatoes) in the potting shed so will see if any will germinate on the kitchen windowsill -- treat to self after work tomorrow! Thank you for your help. I am a full-of-good-intentions gardener but sadly it is often neglected.
