Anyway after managing to procrastinate about it for nearly 2 weeks I finally nailed myself to the chair and made myself sort out the electric supplier switch this morning - needless to say it was not as daunting as I though.
We are about to switch over to the standard rate with Scottish Power which is considerably more expensive than the fixed rate we have been on for the last year.
I did a metre reading to start with and then tried to do an overpayment using the Amex card but sadly that plan didn't work as they don't accept Amex
I had my annual figures with me and we are now with Eon again - it was only 3rd down the list behind one of the new companies and there is a small amount of cashback.
This is on the email they sent me - I think the decimal point is in the wrong place!
Existing Annual Spend: £12,345.33
New Estimated Annual Bill: £10,759.51
Approximate Savings: £1,585.81
Hello mhoc and welcome to E.ON. Good to have you on board.
Those figures are staggering. Something definitely awry there. Have we based these amounts on the usage entered on the switching site?
Sorry if you already know this but thought I'd pop a bit of information on here about your switch and what to expect. They usually go through in about two and half weeks. As the gaining supplier, we'll look after this and contact you just before the switch completes to ask for meter readings. We'll use these to open your account and send them to your old supplier so they can use the same readings to close their account. This stops the same energy from being charged twice.
The readings go through a third party (Data Collector) who checks they're in line with previous readings held for the property. We also let other industry third parties know about the change. These include the energy distributors, meter operators/readers and the national databases that log details of all energy meters in the country. This is all done via a series of electronic messages. This won't hold up the actual switch and the start date will be as we advise. It may, though, have an impact on when accounts are fully live (new supplier) or closed (old supplier).
If you register with our website, you can see how things are going through the 'Track My Switch' service.
Hope this is of interest mhoc and sorry again if you already know this stuff. You know where I am if you need any more details. Have a good weekend and hope the bad weather hasn't caused you too much hardship.

I did a Twine order yesterday which arrived this morning - they seem to be now more mixed boxes rather than the previous mystery boxes which were full of oddities
I got 3 boxes - 1 red and 2 whites
These are the reds- half good enough Wednesday night wines and half were from the better end of Mt Ts range so a good selection.
3 x Australian First Harvest 1896 limited release 2014 cabernet sauvignon
3 x Spain Faustino rivero ulceia 2014 Tempranillo
2 x Australian The Regions coonawarra 2013 cabernet sauvignon
2 x NewZealand Old Renwick Road marlborough 2012 pinot noir
2 x South Africa Origin Pinotage 2016 pinotage
The 2 boxes of white though were not very inspiring so I decided to ring them to organise a return and they are being collected on Monday. Its probably me being too picky but they just seemed so lack lustre and dull. Its not put me off, I will try again, in another week or so. This is what was sent
6 x south Aftica Fish Hoek sauvignon blanc 2016
6 x Isla negra seashore sauvignon blanc
2 x south africa origin chenin blanc chenin blanc
4 x Chile Las Cometas sauvignon blanc
6 x France Noblesse de loire sauvignon“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

Helo Malc - yes I had switched annual figures for monthly figures - what a egit I am . So I rang up and got a very helpful person who cancelled the original and then stayed with me on the phone while I started again and double checked my figures.
Fingers crossed that I have now not missed out on my cashback
Allegedly I will save £170 over the course of the year - Scottish Power had one heck of a price jump and we have been with them for 3 years so it was time to jump ship.Hello mhoc and welcome to E.ON. Good to have you on board.

2 questions
Firstly once I am up and running can I pay additional amounts into my account? And if so can I pay by American Express.
secondly can I get an account set up even before the switch and before I have account numbers etc?
thanks in advance!“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
I would have at a guess it is because the manual price collectors could not get out to collect prices this week.
Also, iif anyone is thinking of going shopping in the north east today...DONT! Its like xmas eve all over again, utter madness, the shops are heaving!!!“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

Yes they are - I would have been happy enough with a 50/50 mix of Wednesday wines and some a bit special but they were all £5 and £6 wines apart from the fish hoel ones that Waitrose sell for £7.99 so even those are nothing to shout about. And both boxes were identical
I hope you get a nice red selection - I like seeing what others have got so write the list up - did you get 2 boxes?“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove.
