I had a dream last night that I went to a garden centre with Snap, Sarahdol and hornet girl and when we got there there were some allotments, one belonged to locarr, one to dizzy ditzy and one to a dad who cannot be named :rotfl:.......love thy neighbour:eek:

    That's brilliant:rotfl::rotfl:

This is what worries me about my Oh retiring - hopefully a good few years off yet but you cant always plan these things.
I am hoping that he will do it gradually, maybe job share or do fewer hours so we have time to adjust - I am dreading it really.
At weekends it seems like breakfast is long and drawn out so everyone is in and out of the kitchen making a mess and then when everything is finally straight again, 3 hours later everyone is having lunch and it all starts again. Everything else has to be slotted between meals so it all has to be quick easy non complicated jobs and the house is never totally straight and tidy
    .
Days like today are far better - everyone has been at work since 7, the house has been tidy since 9 and will stay that way all day, so I can get on as I've got a big job to tackle (which I am supposed to be tackling now but I got distracted :) ) The big job I will just keep doing until its finished so breakfast might be at lunch time and it has already incidentally lead onto several small side jobs which were not on the agenda today eg freecycle listing and filling bags for the food bank and the charity shop.
I also think I do my best thinking and forward planning when the house is quiet, there are no interruptions.

With OH around I am constantly trying to think of ways to keep him active, entertained and amused - when in reality he would rather be asleep on the sofa :(
I think summers will be OK, when and if the weather is good as we can just disappear off for days out but the winter months will be long and dire.
Many OHs have hobbies that keep them fully occupied in their spare time- golf, football, DIY ... but my OH his interests are also his work and his life so when work stops what is there to take its place - there are 40 extra hours to fill a week.
At one time last year I was in full nagging mode saying that he had to start making plans as to what was to fill those 40 hours a week but it was very much like having a discussion with a brick wall so I stopped. He is an adult after all and he has to make these decisions himself.
I think he thinks retirement will be like every day is Sunday - get up, feed cats, fill the coal bucket for later, make tea, get a museli bar to eat, back on the sofa an hour after getting up, stay there until I've sorted everything else out and its time to go out

Anyway, all in the future ...
My dear grumpy old git keeps talking about retiring:eek:Unlike Mr Mhoc he does have hobbies, golf and drinking beer, in pubs!
However all the 'old dears' he works for keep telling him he can't pack in. (he's a self employed handyman 'no job too small type of thing'. They have decided he is a 'treasure' ???

I agree with the old dears though, He has worked for approximately 7 hours this week so far and has accumulated, in tips, £55 and a bottle of Irish whiskey!!

I now tell him he is a National Treasure, but if doesn't start doing things in our house I'm going to get a man in!!

with decent spreads quite dear now, i think ill try the 500g anchor spreadable as opposed to the butter

    £3.25 or 2 for £5
    pyo = £2.50 - 65p = £1.85 each (in 2's)
    +bg card - another 32.5p = £1.52 each
next cheapest is £2.50 in sainsbob

bummer, just seen it on the dark side as well

Just read the meal voucher and Greggs, can only use voucher ONCE, must spend it all or lose it :o:o:o

I think Greggs is going to be the difficult one to try and upgrade on - lunch time meal deal around her is £3 - large baguette, juice and crisps or such like - I know the email deals vary around the country.
Breakfast is a £2 deal I think - possibly porridge and juice and an extra coffee
Trying to think of things that are vaguely healthy - I used to like their cheese and bacon pastries but by the time I'd picked out the fatty slimy bits form the bacon I grossed myself out :)

    3.5 months away for me:T
    Can't come soon enough:D

What is this 'sofa' thing you speak of? Rarely use mine. 'Kids' all in their 30's have a few projects lined up for me already - fitting a bathroom and a kitchen etc - so I'm gonna be busy. Probably get a little job two days a week too.

Wifey still has two years to go but next year we already have a few holidays lined up. Italy Skiing in February, Dubai in April, Angelsey in May, somewhere warm in August, USA, Canada & Caribbean Cruise in October, Center Parcs early December so it's gonna be a busy year:j (Mind you, we did similar this year - spending kid's inheritance we tell them:rotfl:

Financial Adviser assures me that I will be £75 per week better off when I retire so bring it on!

Sorry to rub it all in but really looking forward to it, might even have more glitching time too;)

    ChelseaFred:)
Wow CF, that's a good line up - we've manged 4 this year, including an extended family trip to Cape Cod. :j

Strangely enough since retiring I struggle to keep up with the thread.

Mission accomplished - first free morning of the week so I decided to tackle the Christmas shoe boxes - the boxes themselves already wrapped as we did this last week on a wet afternoon.
I'd also gathered all the bits together I've been collecting all year into 3 plastic crates so it was all systems go.
Firstly though I had to figure out where to take them when they were full - On the list of drop off places on the website there was no mention of the childrens nursery we took them to last year which was going to be problematical. On the off chance I rang them up and they were actually a drop off point - its literally round the corner from us with parking right outside so much easier then going into town.
Then when I'd just about finished I thought I'd put in down the sides some of the postcards I've collected, the postcard collection boxes were easy to find but I had to find nice scenic ones with no words on, just nice pictures. In doing so I came across another shelf of flotsam and jetsam that needs sorting, more stuff to go straight into recycling but also a useful notebook that went into the boxes.
So in all 3 hours to fill 7 boxes  - but at least its all done and dropped off now.

Def needed the OOOO2 hot chocolate this afternoon and also dropped another bric a brac box off at the charity shop.

So in total about 5 wine boxes full of sods, odds and even odders out of the house already this week - 3 boxes of christmas shoe box stuff, one charity bric a brac and I've culled my Christmas card collection in half - and its only Tuesday :D
    Well done you!!
