Snap its a difficult situation. He probably doesn't even realise that he should be keeping everywhere tidy. It could be his way of coping with his mum's illness. My DD went slightly off the rails so if that's the worst he does....... Maybe you could ask him to try and keep on top of the kitchen now you and your other sister have cleaned it.
