quick query, reserve not met..

Hi,
I bid on something and I am currently the highest bidder but at less than my highest bid entered.
Ebay says the reserve has not been met, I am not going to bid again any higher.
Would my bid have gone to at least the reserve if it had been within range of my top bid?
Or do I have to wait and see if other bids push me up to the reserve in case I still win it..
What I am trying to say, am I free to bid elsewhere now? or could I still end up winning the item? could they for example reduce the reserve and make me a winner..
Thanks for advice

You could still end up winning - it is open to the buyer to reduce or remove the reserve even after the item has attracted a bid. More info: https://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/reserve.html0

If you exceeded the reserve then the reserve price would have been your opening bid.
If the reserve was not met the bid will be xx£ above the previous bid.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Thanks, I got left well behind in the bidding so was 'free' to buy elsewhere and did so.
Trying very hard to know my limits and bid and walk away. Having more luck by tracking down less attractive listings (some sellers do themselves no favours with rubbish details or none) and getting into discussions with sellers for more information. Most people pass these 'amateur' listings by but there are some good deals to be found.0 -
Good time of year to buy expensive items. People selling stuff for their xmas spending money. And just after xmas people regretting spending so much and selling the stuff on.
Although there will be those that purchase expensive items and then just sell it and not pay for it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
