    Morning,

Beautiful day here in Lancashire. It was lashing it down in the early hours so it has cleared up with glorious blue skys. Going to make the most of it today and take DH and DD’s to Southport for a good walk, Had a look at things to do and have never tried the Southport museum and it’s free so will wonder around it today.

We did not go to any firework display events last night. However my girls 10 and 4 really enjoyed looking at most of our neighbours fireworks going off. Lots of squeals and laughter.

Tonight I will be prepping for Beef and Horseradish Casserole which I will put on overnight to enjoy for tomorrow’s tea.

    Have a good day.
  • Sun is out and shining and I have just stuck a tray of scones in the oven so my house will smell more like normal today at least :) These will go with me to DDs later this afternoon.
Thanks for the support chums I feel strange that I have been offline for a few days and all my routines have gone to pot ,but its just the way life is at the moment ,no doubt normal service will resume at some point :)

Hope you all are well and the dogs and cats and horses in your lives have been not too badly bothered by the fireworks. Oddly enough it seemed very quiet where I live last night ,perhaps tonight maybe different as the weather is at least drier, last night it was not a brilliant night for them as it was so damp.

    Take care everyone

    Morning folks.
The sun is shining so I thought I would do a wash and put it out. Got as far as the whirly and felt some light rain falling, so brought it back in and put it on the radiators. It's now a balmy 9 degrees, was 6 when Mr Fix It went for his daily constitutional.
Anyhow nothing much needs doing today as Mr Fix It had cleared and wiped down the kitchen and filled the DW :D. I was a bit late waking up this morning as I had a bad night and couldn't settle.
I don't know about the animals being frightened by the fireworks, I certainly was ! What happened to the quiet Catherine wheels ? Every firework seems to be great big "bangy" ones which make the windows rattle . Probably why I couldn't sleep :(.
The oven is on and there is a lovely smell of roast pork and sage and onion stuffing wafting about. All the veg is prepped and Dad is due to arrive about 12.30. Oh and now it's pouring with rain, so I made the correct call re the washing and someone has just let off a loud firework  . What is the matter with people ?
Sorry for the rant about the fireworks.
JackieO lovely to hear from you. Please take care of yourself.
Holly hope you enjoy your lunch.
Hugs all round and hope you enjoy your Sunday.

  • Afternoon everyone, it is cold but clear here and so far this morning I have achieved a knitted babygro for a small teddy. That's it really, though I did have a bath and then cleaned the hose thing for the shower. I did housework Friday and yesterday so day off today.
I'm also on a weekend off from cooking. OH cooks on Saturdays and he us making a special bonfire night meal. This is usually he*nz tomato soup, which I don't have as dislike it so much, followed by sausages, oh well. Possibly there will be something else to eat, I am hoping so. I suspect that the veg or salad component of this meal will be pretty minimal, and that's the bit I like. Still, this is what he fancies and DS will probably enjoy it too.

I have washing to do but people will be lighting bonfires and setting off fireworks before it is dry so am leaving that for now as I like the smell of a bonfire but not necessarily on my duvet cover.

Fantastic moon last night, really beautiful.

Happy bonfire if that's what you are doing
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Tru - can I be nosy and ask about your denture work. I have partial dentures, I had new ones made in the summer and decided to keep my 7 remaining teeth. However yesterday the back of one of my top teeth fell out leaving a big hole. So decision is made...have them all taken out! I have a dread of having no teeth whatsoever and the dentures not staying in properly. Are you in the same situation?
dp1 I hope you don't mind me butting in - my situation was that I had three top front teeth removed in 1971 (I was 11 years old at the time) and had a partial denture fitted; fast-forward to 1983 - I had part of my jawbone removed and along with several more teeth that were crumbling; at that point I hadn't seen a dentist since 1976, and the pain was so bad that even whisky didn't touch it. 1984 saw ALL the remaining back teeth go; and in 1985, ALL the remaining front teeth went and two full plates (top and bottom) were fitted. The jawbone removal and subsequent two multiple extractions were all done in hospital under general anaesthetic.
I have had very little trouble since, apart from a nerve in the lower left part of my jaw hasn't ever grown back (from the bone removal).
I have a complete new set of dentures made when I feel it necessary - my current set I've had since August 2011, and they're still fine. I go to my DH's dentist for this; I pay privately, but it's worth every penny. Oh, and I've never found the need for denture adhesive or anything like that, they stay in just fine.
Anyways, I hope reading this helps you in some small way. :o

  • Afternoon all

Quiet day with some housework. I caved in and got out the winter duvet today. The central heating is also on low in our bedroom. Often I don't have it on but I was cold when I woke up. Did a load of washing, went to the supermarket to get petrol with a 10p off voucher. a tub of celebrations and one of heroes may have jumped into my trolley too. But at 2 for £7 not a bad offer. One will be a gift.

Made some pumpkin soup for lunch with a culinary pumpkin, carrots, onions, flavoured with nutmeg and some milk added. OH had two helpings for lunch.

    Chilling now with a cuppa.

Dumpling hope Becky gets the care she needs and settles in quickly.. Is the unit a long way to travel?

Jackie O hope DD heals quickly and the pain subsides. It is difficult being off your feet. Has she tried those adult colouring books? Some people find them relaxing.

Well have a good evening folks and safe Bonfire Night.

Evening! Ex left when I went to the tip at 11a.m. I did a little shopping and put on a white wash which I hung out. The washing didn't dry so it's now upstairs drying.

Did my work (almost) and tried to help a neighbour with her Mac - I know nothing about Macs and have told her this umpteen times, she still asks me to look.

My door is still open though it won't be for long, the cold is creeping in and the darkness is dropping. I've had some more of the sausage concoction from yesterday and found some ice-cream in the freezer. :j

It's almost time for Grease so I'll settle down with a glass of wine to watch it.

Evening (((((((((( hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

We have had a busy day.Usual brekkie in bed, but then up dressed and off into the fabric guild in Oadby, I managed only to spend £31 which was good for me.

We then travelled on to my niece in Market Harborough, we ended up with 20 of us for a buffet lunch, very nice.Lots of chat with my niece from Oz remembering old times and old friends. We stayed till about 3 30 we wanted to get home before dark, it took us just an hour to get back.

The whole family made it which was great, I have some photos which I will post once I get my laptop sorted.

Lamewolf - thank you that reassures me a bit. I had new dentures in the summer and wish now I'd just had the remaining teeth removed and got it over with! I just have this idea that it'll be awful to have no teeth at all....suppose it's nearly as bad having 7 very unattractive teeth!
When I was pregnant with eldest DD I had this weird thing where the calcium from my teeth went into her bones and I've suffered with my teeth ever since! I can't remember what its called. Anyways, thank you!
Fireworks again...both cats sheltering under the beds and the cat flap's locked so they can't run out in fright
  • Good evening everyone.
Been quite busy today. Did the ironing and had an afternoon of baking/cooking. My electric beaters broke so I made the cakes proper old style by hand. Made choc chip fairy cakes and a walnut & coffee cake.
    Made chicken casserole for dinner.

Lots of fireworks going off. I don't mind on Bonfire night.

Small is already anxious about going back to school tomorrow. I don't know what he doesn't like & he is unable to tell me. But when he's at school, he is generally happy. I'm doing his EHCP soon & am also going to look at another special needs school. He was like a 2-3 year old when he was 4. He 8 & a half now & still like a 2-3 year old & im unsure if this school will meet his needs going forward.

Nice to hear from you Jackie.

Best wishes for Becky tomorrow, Dumpling.

    Best wishes to all
