    Thanksgiving is on Thursday 23rd November and I'm not arriving until Tuesday 28th I don't think that could be the reason.
    Even allowing for the holiday weekend, I would have thought that everything would be back to normal by the Tuesday evening.

    If they have cars out on hire, the computer increases prices for pick ups.

    A couple of days ago I booked with Alamo/Brits

    a. intermediate SUV for 9 days starting 12 December this year at a cost of £205 to go from Orlando to Miami and then;
    b. full size saloon for 2/3 January for £48 to drive round Miami

    Prices seem quite reasonable to me.
  • Whenever I go to the US, I use the Alamo trade website (it's for travel industry staff) and I've just had a quick look and the prices for a full sized car for the end of November are about what I would normally expect and there isn't any massive increase compared to other sized vehicles.

    There may well just be a pricing problem with the Alamo system at the moment.

    I posted earlier that it’s been that way for a while probably about 6 months. I have been checking every other day for about that long and they have been consistently much more expensive, when normally Alamo brits is the cheapest

    Checked Alamo again this morning as i am going next week, was £223.02 for a standard Car

    Then looked on Groupon and clicked the link on Avis car hire, got a standard Car for £142.80 a bit more like it
