Motabilty to private car, do I declare claims whilst on motability?

Options
Hi all,

we have had our sons renewal back for DLA and they have reduced his DLA from high to medium and his mobility from high to low. We disagree, have already sent a mandatory reconsideration and they have stuck with the decision. We are going to appeal further but in the mean time we have a situation.

We have had a motability car for 8 years. It was the first time my wife and I drove and have never had to buy a car privately let alone insure it etc. So I know motability insurance does not carry over no claims bonus officially. However in the last 3 years we have made 3 claims. Claim one was when somebody reversed into me when parked stationary. Claim two was when a drunk lashed out at our rear window and our car was unlucky to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Third claim was a few months ago when driving home from holiday a stone hit our windscreen and put a big chip and glass in it so the windscreen was replaced.

My question is, do I need to report these claims to any new private/personal insurers? I have read that officially we have no insurance history but I would not want this to come back on us. I mean it is 3 claims, even though none were our fault they are still 3 claims?

I have a few quotes I am happy with but stated no claims based on it being motability insurance which operates differently.

How should I proceed on this please?

You should ask the new insurers for their understanding - to me, you've made three claims. You may not have been earning a no claims bonus (I know nothing), but you are not claim free. Remember it is claims not blames ...
