Ill health retirement - disability and a good few years from retirement

Hi all,
I have been recommended ill health retirement by OH, report has been sent to the employer and I have my copy, employers have instructed/applied for ill health application with my consent, as redeployment was suggested but not available.
Now I dont know what the offer is, will they come back to me and say, and can still refuse? if I cant live on it.
What happens then as OH has said I am not fit for work in my current role, and unlikely to find alternative employments that fits around my medical needs and complications.
I almost think like I have signed my soul away but I still have no confirmation of what will be on the table as a offer....
Any help

You haven't given much context. Is this public sector? If so, what's the pension scheme, and what tier or level of IHR is being considered? And more basically... surely leaving with an early pension is better than just being dismissed on grounds of incapacity - or is it that you think the latter isn't inevitable...?0 -
At one time the LGPS allowed staff who were unable to continue in post because of ill health to access their accrued pension made up to normal retirement age. That went in one of the recent pension cuts and now ill health retirement hinges on whether the staff member can do any full time ( 30 +hours) job. There are also far more dismissals on incapacity grounds0

Sorry, but this is not correct - the ill health regulations of the 2014 LGPS are similar to those of the 2008 scheme (three tiers etc.).0 -
Maybe I am thinking of pre 2008 then. I am quite old!0

Hi,
Just updating this as I had forgotten I had even asked this question.
Still no news, I work in the private sector in a retail bank. I had got a rejection of my application as based on one report from my consultant that I was under that there was other alternatives that could be explored.
These have now been exhausted and I have appealed the decision. I am now waiting to find out what happens next.
I have been to OH and they have supported my application after adjustments were rejected, my employer supported my application after redeployment options failed, so its just waiting for it to be overlooked by the pension people (administrators/trustees?)
Just waiting for a decision has been quite hard as it was the OH and my employer who suggested ill health application not myself, it would be supported, would understand If I was the one who made the first move...
I understand my age is an issue, I suppose if it doesn't materialise or not something I am able to live off, I would expect my employer to dismiss me on ill health grounds and then will have no income...

Updating this thread.
I have now been offered ill health retirement from my employer they have enhanced my pension by 30 years and given me the total of my pot.
This is where I am stumped, what do I do next, in the pack I have been given 4 options
- take cash lump sum and pension pot is reduced by number.
- take total amount in cash in two payments
- Keep total and transfer to somewhere else
- Leave pot alone and offer an alternative retirement date.
I am just about to go on nil pay and I understand that my employment will end, as ill health has been agreed.
I am now left with options but struggling to get any help to what my pot will give me as an income as my date of birth is lower then the date many calculators offer.
What do I do now? I don't want to take the cash element as I am currently in application for Universal Credit due to disability and to give me some income now my employer has given me a end date.
Any help welcome.

You haven't given any numbers but it sounds, to me, that an IFA would be worth the cost in this scenario
