Morethan Direct Debit

Hi everyone, after some advice.
My wife and I moved to Hampshire from Cornwall in July this year, we went through the process of address changes with all our companies one of which is Morethan for our dog insurance. When I changed our address with Morethan the premium for dog insurance jumped so much so that the advisor on the phone thought it was incorrect and an error had occurred. She put a hold on the direct debit and referred the case to the insurance underwriters. A number of weeks passed and I heard nothing, when I rang back in August they confirmed that unfortunately the change of address had caused a significant increase in premium and that the price I was told on the phone was correct. I wasn’t happy but accepted it and went on with my life assuming the direct debit had been reinstated at the new rate.
Today (4th Nov) I get a letter from Morethan saying that the DD hadn’t been altered in August and that on 14th Nov £328.70 would be taken all at once to cover the missed increase from Aug-Nov.
I range Morethan and the advisor apologised admitting that the hold on the DD should have been lifted and that an error was made but unfortunately he £328.70 did have to be paid and he would see if the amount could be split to ease the payments. He managed to get the payments split into 5 payments and offered me £30 compensation.
My question -is this ok? This was Morethan’s mistake by not reinstating the DD and now I am having to pay my monthly premium of £82.18 dog insurance and a further £65.74 each month to cover the missed DD. They have admitted a mistake and given me £30 compensation, can anyone advise me further, any legal experts out there or consumer rights experts.... help!

Yes, it's ok.
Just consider it an interest free loan, with £30 cash back. It doesn't get much better than that.0 -
Are dogs in Hampshire more likely to become ill or become accident victims than those in Cornwall? If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Busier roads maybe?0 -
You don't check your bank statements? I was promised a refund for something on Wednesday, I'll be checking my bank statement online each day to ensure I get it. I also check that my Council Tax and other DDs have been taken each month. I don't want any nasty surprises!0
