Renew Car tax a car when you have misplaced log book

Hoping someone can help me. Our car failed its MOT and so the direct debit for tax is now cancelled. We got an "important action needed" letter from DVLA regarding this but this is not a V11 reminder form.

We fixed car 5 days later and now trying to renew tax online.

We have the V5C/2 new keeper supplement (green slip) but nothing else and this seems only acceptable if we were purchasing tax as new openers of the car.

Will car insurance, V5c/2 and the fact that we had tax the last 12 months be enough for us to tax by direct debit at the post office today?

Many thanks in advance

You get a reminder through the post, so you only require details off there to renew the VED.

Not if you pay by direct debit

Did you never receive a V5C in your name (and never bother chasing it), or have you simply lost it?

You need to go to a Post Office that issues car tax. Complete a V62 form (this is available in the branch or online) and pay a £25 fee for the new V5C document. At the same time, you can pay the tax and the Post Office will provide a receipt.

Why did you cancel the tax in the first place?
