Mortgage PPI claim - Bear with me!

Good Morning All,
Bit of advice needed if possible please.
I am as sure as I can be that we had PPI on our first mortgage that was taken out in 2001, (repayed the mortgage in 2004) on the advice of the broker that we would probably not get the mortgage if we didnt have it(yes we were young and impressionable) They also tried to pressure us into buying some other products which we refused as we were already miffed at the "dealbreaker" PPI.
Anyway, having no documentation saved or bank statements showing the payments I attempted a DIY PPI claim which was refused on the grounds of the bank allegedley not keeping any records 6 years old.
Yesterday, (I know i will be shot down for even considering a claims company) I saw an advert for a claims company who confidently state that they are able to successfully claim back to the 90's with no documents, using some data protection loophole and that the banks claims of not having records older than 6 years is BS.
Can anyone shed any light on whether that is true or not?

The complaint should be addressed to the broker, who probably wasn't regulated in 2001.
The bank did not sell you the PPI.
Claims companies are known for BS,0 -
And if the broker is no longer trading?0

Then you have no one to complain to.0

It is recommended that banks only keep data for 6 years. In practice they probably keep it a lot longer, and the calims company 'data protection loophole' is just sending a SAR and £10 which anyone is entitled to do.
You've got to hand it to them though, they surely know how to make something sound mysterious and enticing.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
