Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one. Dumpling, pleased to hear that Becky has a bed, I really hope she gets the help and support she needs and will be back home with you. As Hester would say Titus out!!
Late up this morning, my lap top is playing up, cursor has disappeared I managed to get it back yesterday, but no such luck today, so I am using my tablet.
It's very wet, so OH will be tied to the house unless I can find him something to do hey ho.
I made another 2 bowls yesterday, not happy with them, how ever careful I am making them, I just might send for a yard of the special wadding and see if that works, otherwise a single layer of insul bright and stress that the cozied are NOT to be Put in the microwave.0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc, hugs to Jackie, dumpling, Holly and anyone else in need.
We are moored in Midgham at the moment but will be moving off in a while, yesterday was misty but not cold.
We managed to meet up with the local fuel boat and stocked up with diesel and coal, as we use the diesel for the central heating as well as for travel we are allowed a VAT reduction on a percentage of out purchase. It varies from a 20/80 split to 60/40, but there is a problem with the marina license and they are charging full VAT currently.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all.
It looks like we had rain during the night as the patio is wet but it's not raining now. Don't know how long it will last though. I have a small amount of washing but that can wait for another day.
Now much needs doing today except running the hoover up the stairs. I have filled the DW and made a pear and chocolate crumble with some soft pears I found in the fruit bowl. I am the only one who likes them but only if they are on the hard side. So that's tomorrows dessert sorted and we will have it with custard.
There is also half a stale (ish ) baguette left over, so Mr Fix It will turn it into breadcrumbs for some sage and onion stuffing. As we are having roast pork tomorrow they should go nicely together !
Holly sorry that your meeting wasn't very productive. Gentle hugs for you.
Dumpling I hope that Becky will return feeling much better. Try not to fret too much, but I know you will because you're her Mum and that's what we Mums do, no matter how old the child. Take care lovely.
As I have run out of conversation, ( that's a first :rotfl:), I shall finish my coffee and then start on the hoovering.
Have a good Saturday.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -

Another post which is distraction therapy! We've been out for breakfast, delivered said 'stuff' and came back.
I've set out the foldable school table and set it up with the marking and laptop. I can now see how dusty and mucky the laptop is! I've set the fire then sent ex out to bimble around the countryside.
Now I've been totally distracted by Pick of the Pops on radio 2. The year is 1965 which is when I first became aware of music. The first record I bought has just been played 'Hang on Sloopy' by The McCoys and I was transported back into our old living room and could 'see' myself dancing around it devising special moves to it. :rotfl:
Probably won't get much done until after 2pm. now!0 -
GERS you have just set me off reminiscing and the first record I bought was Running Bear by Johnny Preston! The year was 1959 and I was 13. Oh those were the days!
Which brings me to today's music and bands. I have just bought (well actually transferred the money for) DD and the 3 DGDs Christmas presents - tickets to see The Vamps in May at Manchester Arena. (No I had never heard of them either!!) So that's their main presents bought. Just a few stocking fillers to get them now.
I too am on distraction therapy - is it catching?! I made the stock pot of red pepper soup before catching the bus to town this morning so just the garlic and herb cheese to add and then it can be whizzed and frozen in portions. Then the ironing basket to retrieve from it's hiding place. Chicken pieces defrosting for tonight's meal. Rather fancy it in a mushroom sauce for a change.
DUMPLING I so hope the hospital treatment helps Becky. She is a brave girl to agree to it and it's good she hasn't had to wait a long time for a bed. That would have added to the stress, the endless waiting. Much love to you and your lovely family.
Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Afternoon everyone,
Seems to have gone cold here this afternoon and has just hailstoned for a few minutes .DS2 is taking the DGC to a community bonfire later.I would like to have gone with them but we need to stay in and look after our poor dog,she was bad enough last night, pacing and panting and trying to hide behind the sofa.I gave her an extra tablet in the end and went upstairs to watch tv as she seems to feel safer.I made her a 'den' between the open wardrobe doors and a stool and she went to sleepso I sympathise Redruby
DH got a shock with his tea last night.I defrosted a mysterious tub of what I thought was chicken in honey and mustard sauce-it turned out to be cauliflower,I must have had sauce /cauli left over and decided to combine them in the interests of waste not want not :rotfl:.Luckily he got a bit of meat content as he decided to have a meat samosa first as tea wasnt ready.
Dumpling, hoping the treatment does wonders for Becky,it seems to be a positive move forward for her.Hugs to you all,I know you'll miss her though.
Might have 10 minutes with my book before DS arrives back with DGD,DGS is already here (asleep on the sofa) but she's been at a party.xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -

I was 11 years old in 1965! I still really enjoy music.TravellingAbuela wrote: »Which brings me to today's music and bands. I try to keep up with the music of today though I struggle with rap / grime etc. I know the Vamps, they did a great version of 'Cecilia' with Shawn Mendes. Right now I'm enjoying Robert Plant, Liam Gallagher, Rag n Bone Man and even a bit of Stormzy (well at least his new single 'Blinded by your grace'. Eclectic taste here.
Right, I've rummaged in the chest freezer - no pizza! I would have sworn that there were two in there. Instead of that I've taken out some caramelised onion sausages which I'll skin, chop, add to a tin of tomatoes and serve with pasta this evening. Proper cooking for a change!
OK - I'll tackle two more assessments. That'll bring my total today to six and I'll be done. That leave six more for tomorrow! Little and often as I get so bored unless there's a brilliant student who does it all correctly the first time.
Now I'm just wittering on...and irritating myself to boot.:o0 -
Afternoon all.
Dumpling, best wishes to Becky x I hope this helps her. I hope you & the family will also be ok through this x
This morning I needed to go to Sainsbury's as my cat will only use one of their brands of cat I had to go to Waitrose as the cat will only eat their essentials range of cat food. We've had him for 5 years today. He didn't have a good start to life, so whatever Prince George wants, he gets. Of course, Sainsbury's didn't have the cat food. And getting into Waitrose was awful. I managed to get parked eventually.
Traffic is awful around here on weekends. It's bad in the weekdays mind. The accident in thenQE2 Bridge yesterday was horrific. The ensuing traffic jams came down as far as where I live.
Takeaway for tea later. Always have 1 after payday each month. Indian tonight.
Need to drop Eldest off soon to my sisters as they're going to a firework display. I really wish fireworks were restricted to displays only. I hate that the general public can set them off at any time they want. Midnight last night. I was so cross, especially as it makes the cat jittery. Also if they wake up Small, I'm not sure he would sleep again in the night.
Anyway, enough of my moaning!
Best wishes to everyone.

Hi chums back at my house for the day today as DDs still having trouble walking very far
I managed to get her to the local supermarket where we borrowed a wheelchair so she could get the shopping. Her foot and leg are a myriad of all colours of the rainbow at the moment and she has got to have the stitches in for at least another week.
Bless her she gets so fed up as she can't do anything.
Eldest DD has been too-ing and fro-ing from the hospital with her OH to see his Dad Frank who is really not doing very well at all.He is on pretty strong morphine at the moment, and is very sleepy. There was talk of a hospice for him, but at the moment he is too ill to be moved.
Its been dreadful weather here in Kent today lots of rain and although I was hoping to get to the shops for some odds and ends ,so far I have been too busy catching up on stuff indoors, Not many fireworks going off at the moment at least, I may go later as hopefully the stores maybe a bit quieter.
Its weird as I seem to be in a bit of limbo at the moment what with youngest DDs mobility problems, and eldest DD texting me along with my DGD texting as well. I just hope that Frank doesn't suffer too much and youngest DDs foot gets to be less painful.
She hates taking painkillers or for that matter any medication which to me is a bit daft I see no point in beng stoic if you are in pain.
Thanks everyone for your good wishes ,its sometimes a bit difficult to get on my lap-top as life keeps getting in the way, but I am fine and will no doubt bounce back in due course:):)
Take care everyone and stay safe if you hve any fireworks
