Disconnecting battery & radio codes

Not sure if the battery is on its way out so was going to put it on charge but the weather is supposed to be poor tomorrow and there's nowhere to put the extension reel under cover so i was thinking of removing the battery totally to put it on charge.
Question is would you expect this to result in needing to input a radio code?
Car is an Astra H with standard CD30 radio. I don't know the code as it wasn't left.
I was also going to totally degrease the engine bay anyway tomorrow, clean it all up proper so i was thinking of removing it anyway even before i thought it may need charging.

Not just radio codes, electric windows and any other items that have a battery backup memory.
Get a lead with a single socket on it, it will tuck away under the bonnet then.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
CD30 is coded to the car, so does not need a code if the battery is removed. The code on the car pass is only needed if the radio is removed and fitted to another car and then it would require Tech 2.
As above the electric windows will need resetting.0 -
Did this & the radio set itself up no problem

Only thing is i hope the battery isn't on its way out because the bracket that holds the battery in the tray, it just wont free off at all.0 -

Spray plenty of releasing fluid on it now and give it a few whacks with a hammer, so if you do need to change the battery it has had plenty of time to penetrate.0 -
WD40 or something more specific?Nobbie1967 wrote: »Spray plenty of releasing fluid on it now and give it a few whacks with a hammer, so if you do need to change the battery it has had plenty of time to penetrate.0 -
WD40 is good for releasing most seized parts. If it doesn't work, try something such as PlusGasJustAnotherSaver wrote: »WD40 or something more specific?
which may give better results.0 -
I was looking at the bolts around the rocker cover today. I'd used degreaser in the engine bay yesterday & gave everything a good wipe down, apart from the bit that locks the bonnet down - i left that greased.
Anyway 2 of the bolts still looked like bolts but at least 1 of the other ones looked so badly rusted it just kind of looked like a stump that would snap off if you even breathed on it. Would hate to have to have that thing removed.0
