There are two options which get you to Arnside at 4.20pm as follows:
Dep Ipswich 9.58 to Peterborough arrive 11.39
Dep Peterborough 11.54 to Leeds arrive 13.19
Dep Leeds 1350 to Carnforth arrive 15.35
Dep Carnforth 1610 arrive Arnside 16.20

Alternatively
Dep Ipswich 10.20 to Cambridge arrive 11.39
Dep Cambridge to Kings Cross arrive 12.36
Walk to Euston
Dep Euston 13.30 to Preston arrive 15.38
Dep Preston 15.46 to Arnside arrive 16.20

The trainsplit.com web site prices the first of these options at £53.49, although the change on the Leeds to Arnside section is at Lancaster. Of that £5.19 is their fee for working out the split ticketing.

There may be other deals if you know when you intend to return, or hold any railcards, or are travelling with children or a friend etc. etc.
