ipswich to arnside lake district any help please
Hiya wanting to travel to Arnside lake district on sat 23rd Dec for a family holiday. any help with travel would be great as it seems to be a nightmare due to closed rails for repair.
I would prefer no to go via London as so many bits are closed then
thanks

The last time I went to Arnside from here in Essex I cycled.0

As the Ipswich London line is closed probably need to go via Norwich to Manchester and then to Arnside.0

I don't know about the line from Norwich to Manchester, whether it's a direct route or not, but from Manchester to Arnside, you'd have to change at Lancaster then get the train for Barrow in Furness which takes you to Arnside.Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.0 -
Have you ever seen a golden retriever fishing? I saw one paddling around in the sea, feeling the bottom for flat fish. When it found one it plunged its head into the water, and came up with it in its mouth.
I'll have to look out for that! No, I'm usually winging through Arnside spending all my concentration ensuring I don't become a victim of the blue rinse mob in their Yaris's.
As could have happened in this vid where I was lucky the second car at 16 secs didn't turn right into my path - she was indicating. I hadn't really given them a great opportunity to see me, and they wouldn't expect something to be squeezing through that gap.
Arnside village opens up a little more as the video progresses if you want to take a trip down memory lane! ;-)

Except you wouldn’t HAVE to change at Lancaster. Man to Arn has an occasional direct service.
National Rail website has all the details.0 -
I'd think about rearranging the holiday if I were you.
I have travelled from Norwich to Liverpool (return) many times - awful journey.
The worst was from Liverpool to Norwich on about 3rd January in the afternoon/evening. No food & drinks trolley from Nottingham and no heating or lighting in the carriages. Never again (and I like railway travel!).
Can you fly to Manchester and go from there?0 -
yes I've been considering flying!! O what a country! thanks all0
