Ipad Air 2 poor battery life ?

I purchased this ipad in Jan of this year but I have never really been happy with the battery life. Apple have remote tested the hardware and say its ok. I took it nto the store and they seemed to thnk nothng was unusual but I am not convinced. I have made sure all the things that help drain the battery have been turned off. I use the screen brightness on about 20%. When browsing I get an average of 4 mins before it drops 1%. The times are not always the same. My longest was 10 mins. To me the battery life is worse than my ipad 3 but I need to get Apple to sort this if it needs replacing before Jan otherwise the warranty runs out.

I have run the free battery testing app which tells me the wear of the battery is low at 6%. Having only had it months it seems too much to me.

Does this sound normal battery life ?

No, it drops 1% each 4 mins. Interestingly it seems to last longer when just running youtube. The safari browser eats it quicker. I recall apple mentioning having my gmail account bookmarked in safari as well as the same account in the gmail app causes some issues that could be causing it but I am not sure. I have just deleted it in my bookmark so will 2ait and see.

15% an hour does seem a little high. Does the battery usage tell you anything useful?

Are you on IOS 11? My iPad took about a week to settle down ... battery life was awful during that time.

Yes, I am on ios 11. Since I deleted the gmail bookmark in Safari it lasts around 5+ mins per %

What also happens is I turn off my ipad, with nothing running at about 85% and wake up the following morn to see it has dropped to 50%. How can this be ? Some music apps can aparently still be running when seemingly shut down I am told.

Sorry to say I never measured my ipads in this way.

Have you tried resetting the device and do a fresh reinstall like if it was brand new. Also maybe just install apps that you need rather than have all the apps automatically reinstalled?

It sounds like battery life is the main measurement you use on whether this device is worth having. For that reason you will have to go to the Apple store and stand firm that the battery life is not performing to what Apple claim on their site.

If they do not agree with you or fix the device to what you expect then you will have to take them to court.
