New Kitchen Question

As you will guess, I have no confidence in the DIY arena so I’ve come for some reassurance.

I’m having a new kitchen but where the plumbing sink is, I only have room for an 800mm cabinet and then a blank space by the wall (to make it fit, as I’m going with Ikea).

My question is, would a sink and drainer at 800mm wide be ok? I thought yes on the basis that the hole need will be less than this, but also, that a few mm overhang at worst wouldn’t be an issue.

Can anyone help put my mind at ease?

Only the sink bowl needs to fit inside the base unit, the drainer can be over 2 units or a unit plus an empty space.

A sink bowl will normally fit in a 600mm carcase. Beware of siting sinks in a corner as don't forget that you need easy and comfortable access to it.

you can get a sink in a 450mm cabinet so the cabinet size isnt as issue. as previously mentioned a sink next to a wall is not a good idea.

as others have said this ordinarily shouldn't be a problem, but with an Ikea kitchen who knows, they are a pain to fit. Normally you can run pipe work to wherever you want, but Ikea kitchens have no service voids behind them.
I fitted a couple of Ikea kitchens years ago and nowadays just point blank refuse

Re-route the plumbing to go 'up and under' :)
