Thanks all. It’s food for thought. I think I am just feeling particularly risk averse as am also going to have to find a place to live soon, a home rather than investment.
I think I also need to sort out my equity holding and the relative amount of diversification. Not really having done anything except drip feed the ISA I have nearly 30 different funds! Easily led and all that!!0 -
Are the 30 funds all 100% equity funds? Thanks all. It’s food for thought. I think I am just feeling particularly risk averse as am also going to have to find a place to live soon, a home rather than investment.

All equity funds!
However, I was regarding the 8 page - Vanguard thread and I finally understood more about bonds. What confused me further was 'bowlheads' comments re why he would not hold bonds and I kind of get it.
What I don't get is why then so many balanced funds are holding bonds, would something the equivalent of cash be better or a defensive stock like utilities?
Speaking of which, are there are recommendations for a good defensive fund - active or passive?
In terms of what I am looking for is capital preservation with some upside, rather than a lot of upside and risk.
Again reading the forum, I have a say a 15 year window to grow the fund to around £250k ish.
thanks0
