Specialists reports about faults

Hi,
I have a question regarding items that are out of warranty but still within the expected lifetime of the product. in Feb 2016 I bought an LG television that came with a 12 month manufacturer’s warranty. 17 months later it developed a fault with the main board. An independent electronic specialist has agreed that the fault is not due to wear and tear or misuse. I intend to take this information back to the retailer who in this case is also the manufacturer and ask for them to repair at no cost. What I needed to know is does the specialist report have to explicitly state it is a manufacturing fault due to poor workmanship or sub-par components, or is that implied in the fact they have agreed wear and tear and misuse are ruled out. Would this implication be enough should I need to go to small claims court.?

You said that the manufacturer (LG) is also the retailer??
Do LG actually sell their own TVs? I've just had a look on their website and they seem to refer you to certain retailers (like Currys for example) instead...

Was it a business purchase by any chance?0 -
It was purchased through a friends work scheme. They do a lot of printing for LG and as a result can buy the T.v's direct through LG's marketing sales department.
A little unusual granted. However according to the legal advice I have received, this does not affect the consumer rights.0 -
Who did you pay for the TV? If anyone other than LG, directly, you're going to struggle...
The report needs to state that the fault was inherent at the time of purchase.0 -
The invoice was paid by me on my credit card to LG Electronics Uk Ltd0

Is your friend allowed to use their work scheme to purchase discounted TV's for friends?
Aye, that can of worms is going to be opened at some point.
I also find it strange how OP is taking it up with an independent. Presumably OP goes to LG first and foremost, particularly as they are the best suited to determine the cause of the fault for ONE OF THEIR PRODUCTS? Smells a bit fishy there.... Though in fairness LG aren't under an obligation to prove anything (but they probably would for a price, reimbursed if OP is correct) and OP may feel that they will lie on a report.
As a side note (and not really relevant tbh), but pretty much every electronic product I've bought has lasted a few years... TVs, laptops, phones. I've got a LG TV here which is 12+ months old, and all of my family have LG TVs which are a few years old now. I personally can't really comprehend how a main board fault happens! My partner had a 20 year old TV when I moved in! She got it for free. Aside from needing to warm up for a few minutes, it worked fine. Either technology these days is a bit crap, or you ARE mis-treating it in some way.0 -
Why is the font so small?0

Okay guys let me just clarify a couple of things
Yes my friend is allowed to extend the offer out, it is for him and his friends and family.
The reason I had to go to an independent specialist is because LG told me to do so. They required an independent report and advised me that they would not organise this. I would have to do it myself.
No I have not mistreated the tv in any way. It is used for approx 25 hrs a week and is cleaned regularly with "a soft dry cloth" it is switched off at the mains during the day and overnight.
Yes I did copy and paste so that is probably why the font is small.0
