What I did was set up a German account (I used comdirect, they have a good online system) and then Transferwise whenever I wanted to get Euros over to my UK account.

There is a fee with transferwise, but it seems to be cancelled out by the fact their exchange rate is much better than the banks.

As I'm resident in the UK and have not completed the German anmeldung, I can't open up a German bank account as far as I know - which is why I am having to do this very convoluted way of getting paid my German Euro Salary paid and being able to access it both in the UK and Germany without having to pay hefty premiums.
