Letting agency going back on agreed deposit refund

I suspect you agreed to pay more than you should have done as the (for example) mattress was not new (its called betterment, even if it was new when you moved in, its been used by you so any damage/stains will only cause partial compensation). All you have to do is return the property in the state you found it less fair wear and tear.
So prove the state it was in when you moved in (include emails asking for repairs, inventory lists with any amendments you made, photos) and the state you left it in. Include photos (theirs if thats all you have, inventory, emails etc.
Also include emails showing efforts you made to resolve the issue.
I don't know what impact the agreement you made will have.0 -
Hi sorry for the late reply and thanks for the advice.
I've just received the copy of the claim from their side to TDS. Those vultures have now decided to claim for even more things to TDS (about double of what they initially started off when my tenancy first ended).
I'm gonna use my email correspondences as proof that the new charges they are bringing up are just to try and extract money out of me.
I've even figured out that they just made up a bill randomly. Cause initially the bill from their cleaning company had 150 pounds listed for cleaning which I then disputed over 1 month and got it removed just prior to opening the dispute with TDS. Suddenly a cleaning bill is once again added but this time for 90 pounds (from the same cleaning company). I have never seen this bill before in my life so it's clear that they are just making this up to try and extract as much money as they can. Sounds like fraud to me....0 -
Dishonest sure, but not to the level of fraud. Also sadly quite common with letting agents, for example on unfurnished 1 bed when it came to depositing they have claimed 4.5k worth of damages ( a couple times the deposit). All they got was 90 quid cleaning fee and 30 pounds to plaster small hole in the wall (we offered more than that at the start just to make it go away), so submit all the evidence you have, including previous deals/offers and let the guys at TDS do their magic.0

As I said they have 6 years to claim, so it's not fraud...0
