Have you ever offered to buy a house that wasn't for sale?

I once saw a car with a notice in the window saying "Not For Sale". It wasn't what I was looking for, so I considered going and enquiring about not buying it.0

reminds me of when I was a kid, one of my friends lived in the more desirable part of town and one day he answered the door to an Arab gentleman, who asked to see his Dad, when his Dad came to the door the Arab opened a briefcase full of money and said "I want to buy your house".0

Last week I had a call from someone selling their house that I had leafleted over a year ago. His was going on rightmove a week later right enough.
My new neighbours over the back wall bought the house a few months ago without it going to market, word of mouth in their case I think.0 -
Wow who are these super efficient people who save their notes?!0

I bought my first house with a note in the newsagent's window that was in 1975
And the house across the road from me just sold, no agents, not on any web agent's site it was word of mouth.
happens all the time0 -
My nan came home one day to my Grandad saying 'just to let you know I've sold the house'. The house wasn't for sale lol, but a man and woman were in the neighbourhood and were supposed to view the house next door, but the vendor never turned up.
My grandad was gardening in the front garden and got talking to them etc, and by the end of the conversation, he'd accepted their offer on his house that they made haha! If people want to live in a certain neighbourhood, they'll try anything.0
