Driving a Company Car after Employment Ends

Surely only a discussion with the employer can answer this, and there isn't a lot of time.
I wouldn't drive it without written permission to do so, including confirmation that the insurance is still valid.
If not, and if it's going to be several days before it's collected, I'd prefer to leave it at the company premises, not at home.0 -
I am puzzled by some of the questions on here.
this one, is a case where no one but the OPs employer can answer
would be good to know what answer the employer gives0 -
My company's cars are insured only for employees and their partners (as long as they are 'approved').
I'm in a similar position in that I will be TUPE'd to a new company on 1 January - as far as I am aware I will be unable to drive the car after midnight on 31 Dec. Wherever the car is parked on New Year's eve will be where it will be collected from.
As everyone said - check with your employer.0 -
Bear in mind that if you did decide that your wife has cover to drive other vehicles under her own insurance that the cover is almost certainly third party only cover.
Your main issue is that such a cover is subject to the owner of the vehicle giving permission to your wife to use the vehicle. What are the chances that Lex leasing would grant your wife permission to drive the vehicle with only third party only cover eg no cover for damage for Lex"s valuable asset...
I have seen a fair number of issues on MSE and other forums where either the insurer was refusing to handle a claim or the Police were prosecuting the driver for no insurance (or both). The police are very aware of the requirement for owners permission and insurers are very thorough when checking a DOC claim is properly covered0 -
Seems quite late to be asking the question.
If I were the OP I'd be dropping the car back at my employers premises and handing it back that way, seems far more straightforward.0
