  • Apologies, not trying to overthink it, just attempting to clarify I've understood.

Unfortunately the slider seems to have no connection to a flap at all. Taken the panel off etc, can't find any kind of flap. (Have compared to the other heaters).

Ah well. Extortionate prices for the convection heater it is.

    Thanks anyway.

Once you have turned up the input and the heater has charged, it will release heat anyway.

You do not need to worry about the output flap, it should hardly ever be used on any storage heater. I had a flat with 4 storage heaters and I never used the output flap on any one of them.

You have a duo type heater that has storage and a convector. Once the storage is charged up, you shouldn't really need to use the convector at all, it is just for emergencies.

If you find you are using the output or convector on any of your heaters, then you need to turn up the input. If the input is maxed out, you can always invest in an additional storage heater for the room.

Don't worry yourself over the output control, it isn't needed. Heat will still emitted from the heater in the form of radiation which is a lot better than convected heat anyway.
  • We have the duo type heaters, there is no control/flap , details below how to set the heat input and the output shows what the model looks like, don't know if that helps?

Hi guys, new to this forum but desperately trying to find out how to work my storage heaters, and can't find anything that relates to mine online!

I have three storage heaters in my flat, two small, one large. The large one says 'FGS STORAD' but I can't find a model number.

The large heater has two wall switches and two dials. No panel or any other buttons/switches/dials. One switch and one dial relates to the convector heater, this I can get to work no problem. The other switch (a wall switch) seems to link to the storage heater, however there is only one dial, which says 'storage'. So does this relate to input or output, and how do I go about setting it up efficiently? There is also a sort of sliding knob on the top of the heater, which whether I slide it left or right doesn't seem to do anything (though I can't be sure!)

The two smaller heaters seem a little more straightforward. With a wall switch and two dials. One labelled 'storage', one labled 'output'. However all numbers on all heaters have completely rubbed off, so it might be guesswork!

Any help or hints would be fantastic, I'm on the economy 7 tariff, but other than that I'm stumped I'm afraid. Thank you so much.

I know the thread's 2yrs old so you've probably worked out whats what in using the heaters. I just wanted to say I have the same problem & the same heaters. None of the replies here seem to have experienced this model heater. Your posts are good. My mum's flat has exactly these heaters & I had/have the same problems. I'm reasonably savvy about technical stuff & storage heaters (now). There is zero information on these heaters online & very little about the company -its as though they didn't believe in providing info on their products & just disappeared one day. Except for tiny stickers saying "FGS Storad" there are no markings whatsoever on the outside on any of them. Not even a hint there was a mark.:(

Yes, it does seem that the large heater has one knob labelled 'storage' that controls both storage input and output. The smaller heaters in my mum's place have both packed up. The 'boost' slider is a pain as my mum keeps turning it on and forgetting to turn it off - and as the knowledgable @lstar337 pointed out above, thats not a good thing.

I've been through spare parts websites - they apparently still provide parts for Storad heaters. Just, no original manuals, and its still impossible to work out the model numbers from their photos. Its ridiculous there are no original user manuals anywhere for these things and that they didn't bother with model numbers on the outside. At least, they appear to have lasted way past their shelf life. Time to replace.

PS: BEWARE dodgy websites offering manuals. I've come across ones with multiple steps that lead to strange foreign websites AVOID. The company hwelectric.co.uk looks OK but they sell their own version of manuals not originals.
  • a little late but i have instructions for these heaters you can email me at ccsydenham@outlook.com
