Buying property abroad

Hi,
I'm interested in overseas property on a buy to let basis (although I would like to spend some time at whatever property I was to purchase for a few weeks of the year)
Can anyone provide any advice on this subject? I've recently been to an Inside Track (http://www.insidetrack.co.uk/) "workshop" however they turned out to be pretty much a consultancy that wants £11k before you even get to look at any property.
From what i've read so far, i'm going to need a;
1. Mortgage lender
2. Solicitor
3. Letting Agent/Maintanence contractor
Also, can anyone recommend a source of information, or perhaps and IFA that might be able to offer some assistance without the £11k bill

Its £59 to subscribe for 12 issues. The money doesnt get taken off untill 30 days after you get your 1st issue so you can try it. Its a standing order so its easy to cancel at your bank if the 1st issue isn't what you expect0 -

hi there, i'm just back from Turkey and i've bought a place in Altinkum. An up and coming holiday resort. please feel free to email me at [ for information. I am also a mortgage adviser and could answer any questions about capital raising for you. It was so easy to do and the property there is really cheep. They are doubling in price year by year and if they join the EU i'm sure people will make a real profit in the future. Its a lovely holiday place and not as busy as some of the others. A lot of British people have property there and flights aren't bad either. The complex i bought in is beautiful. There is a lovely sandy beach too. We plan to let our out to family and friends and possibly others. It mostly an investment for our future and we will use it ourselves too. I was only out for a week at the end of May and it only took a couple of days to sort !

also don't worry about solicitors it was really easy and cost about £230 and that included a translator. Don't deal directly with Estate Agents - they are a nightmare. We bought of a builder and dealt directly with them. He is Turkish and his wife is Scottish. They have been out there since 1987 and have been building lovely complex's since then. They have an office in Altinkum that they operate from. We had an excellent experience.0

I personally wouldn't buy from anyone who hasn't got a UK office. I would also go and meet the company you're buying from in their office. This gives you a good opportunity to check out the company, see how proffessional they are, make sure they're not a fly by night etc. Most importantly if something goes wrong you can hassle them, if they're based abroad its very easy for them to ignore you!
We've used a company who specialise in overseas investment property when buying some apartments in Bulgaria (They dont just do Bulgaria)
If you want their web site address drop me a PM as I'm not sure if its against the rules to post the address on this forum?0 -
Salehunter you missed one thing in your list...

If you don't mind me asking what sort of place did you get in Altinkum, and at what sort of price was it. My wife is Turkish, we have been interested in perhaps getting somewhere and Altinkum would be a good choice due to its proximity to the port a Cesme (as I'd want to stay for a while I'd like my own car there, thus would drive to Brindisi and get ferry across), and also its a pretty cool sort of place too, with nice beach, etc. The only thing that puts us off is there is a 'Turkish price', a 'German Price', an 'English price', and because they can tell from her accent she is not living it Turkey we are not sure which price we get quoted.0 -
hi the prices for a two bedroom apartment are starting from £42500 now. If you send me a private message with your name and address i still have a brochure i could send you to look at. I think it is against rules to put stuff on here that looks like your touting for business. i don't know how to send personal messages on here. Its up to you if you want to try. The people we bought off were great. i'm sure you would get the British price !! They do have an Office in the UK too.0

Turkey really is a great country to buy.
We purchased a lovely new semi-detached villa in Kusadasi last april.
The rental market is not to strong at the moment as there is little difference in the price of flights and holidays.
With all things if you would not buy the house here do not buy it a broad just because it may be cheap does not always mean its a bargin !Were all Dooooooooomed !0
