Sofa Bed Not fit for purpose

I bought a new sofa bed 4 weeks ago, it wasn't cheap, £700, it has been used six times over the last 4/5 weeks, and part of the metal framework which happens to be exactly where the hips are when laying down, have become increasingly prominent and uncomfortable. So, I phoned the store, (a few days before the 30 day deadline) and explained the problem to them, an appointment was made for their customer care person to come and examine the sofa bed, the day after the 30 day deadline.
He in effect told me that once a week usage, was deemed a regular and not occasional use, and that there was bound to be natural settling of the mattress material.
The mattress is as I see it is not fit for purpose and should be either made fit for use, replaced, or my money refunded, he told me in no uncertain terms that because it is classed as a bed none of this is possible,
My question is: where do I stand?

Tell him you're rejecting it for a full refund under the Consuemr Rights Act 2015? I think you should be covered by that as you reported the fault within 30 days. And obviously a bed that you can't sleep on is not fit for purpose.
I have no idea what he is talking about, saying it is classed as a bed so he can't do anything? The hygiene issue that allows retailers to refuse returns of mattresses is limited to change of mind returns, it wouldn't prevent someone returning a faulty product.
Did you tell them when you bought it how frequently you were going to use it? Have they said how frequently they feel "occasional" use would cover? If you were using it every night then maybe, but once a week seems pretty occasional to me.Well informed on the subjects of sofas and wood furniture, and well opinionated on everything else :rotfl:0
