Yes - i'd seen that link before - I think you have the same one I'm getting (the 26" has a much lower contrast ratio I think) - I'm glad you rate it.

For £350 delivered I'm not expecting the earth - but it might help keep the kids in the front room!

    :)
  • Re Richer sounds, I was interested in the hitachi TV on offer, drove to their branch only to be told stock hadnt arrived, that was three weeks ago, got a call yesterday to say they didnt have any, nor would they and would i like to go to store and choose another TV, makes me wonder did they ever have any or was it a ploy to get you to store to buy something more expensive.........call me cynical if you like.

Which store did you go to? was it the Preston store?
  • Well it arrived at 12:30pm today - pretty snappy delivery. I knew it was coming - they give you the tracking number to use on the Business Post website.

I must say it's pretty smart and looks great up on the wall with the supplied brackets - I've give it a little tilt downwards by placing slim wooden spacers behind the topset of screws - easy enough.

I've got my £35 Tevion HDMI upscaler connected on HDMI 1 - pictures at 720p look fine (you have to bear in mind I've nothing to compare it to). The second HDMI channel is vacant for the moment - maybe I'll treat the kids to a PS3 at Christmas.

The pictures from the built in DVB-T tuner look pretty good too, but I'd have to say not as good as my 32" Sony CRT next door (with a Toppy as the source). I don't know if it internally upscales the Freeview pictures - it doesn't look like it to me.

That's all I've got connected at the moment - I need a 2m long SCART to SCART if I'm going to connect the VCR - I dread to think what the pictures from that will look like, but it's just for the kids videos.

There is the faintest hum from the panel when the room is absolutely silent - I presume it's the backlight - it can't be heard over normal programme sound, so I'll live with it (but keep checking to see if it gets louder). Also the telly itself looks a million dollars but the remote is a bit cheap. So far I can't find anything else 'wrong' with it, but as I've said most of the inputs are untested.

There was a bit of paper in the box saying it had a three year swap-out warranty as opposed to the one year on the website - I'll check with Evesham tomorrow to see which applies. Probably just one year at that price.

In summary it seems to be good value at £350 delivered - certainly worthy of consideration at that price point I'd have thought.

    :)

We bought a 32 Alqemi LCD TV just before last Christmas - and are still very happy with it. Delivery was quick and I found a small scratch on the shiny part of the stand, so they sent me a replacement out by next day service.

You have only to read the reviews on the site from other people who have bought from Evesham to see that they are providing good service and a uality product at a great price.
