Hi Guys,
Currently I have amazon seller account normal one and not making any sales.
I can not offer free postage and have been informed that I need to upgrade to business account if i want offer free postage however it cost £25 a month
Is it worth it for those who have experience in this area
Will it increase sales for me?

If you can't offer free postage, could you not just drop the price of the items? As a buyer, I don't care how the total price is made up - £8 with free postage or £5 for the item £3 postage comes to the same thing.0

Financially it is only worth it if your £25 shop account costs less than the current situation you are in.0

I hate to say it rfowler, but making decisions like that is the BREAD-AND-BUTTER of being in business.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Your statutory rights are not affected.0

It is a small business and just some advice to see what other people are doing thats all.0 -

I only ever sold books plus a few smaller new things on Amazon, there's no more visibility with the upgraded account, I used it purely because a lot of my items had no catalogue entry and I couldn't list unless I started a new category.
It's been a while since I sold on Amazon in any great quantity so I might be wrong, but I'm sure the regular sellers will correct me. The fees for the paid for account were less per individual item than selling without the upgrade and there used to be a calculation, based purely on books though, showing at which number the balance tipped over to making the paid for account a better option.
The point about free postage has already been covered, but when I used to buy on Marketplace (I no longer buy there due to a lot of issues with Far East traders masquerading as being in the UK) I always went by price as that is how the sellers showed up when you looked on Marketplace. The list showed price plus postage, and I used to start at the cheapest and work down until I found someone with good feedback who also stated they were in the UK. Free postage or paid for postage and a cheaper item made absolutely no difference to my buying decision.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. One thing i dislike about Amazon. They appear to hide the sellers details.
How do they get away with it?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Crikey soolin - I'm not sure I needed to know this!
Maybe I'll change that - I've been chatting too long on the antique forums and forgot difference countries and collectors use different words to mean different things.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. They're usually on the detailed seller information page. I've just checked and mine don't appear to be there, no idea why. I think Amazon would say that you are buying from them as you always pay Amazon, unlike Ebay where the seller gets paid direct, albeit via Paypal.
I think this is where my issues around the Far East sellers arise- If they say they are in the UK or make mention that all items are shipped from the UK, then I can't check further until I actually purchase. Sometimes the address does show up, but recently, no addresses have been visible at all.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
